Spring 2023 Add/Drop Dates—Undergraduate Students
January 17: Classes begin.
January 26: Last day to drop courses without a "W" grade, and last day to add courses.
March 20: Last day to withdraw from a course with a “W” grade.
May 3: Last day to withdraw from the University for Spring 2023.

Dining Plan Change and Cancellation Requests—All Students
Dining plan change and cancellation requests for the Spring 2023 semester are now being accepted online. The deadline to reduce or cancel the Spring 2023 meal plan is Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

Important Graduation Information—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students who anticipate completing January 2023 degree requirements must apply for graduation by submitting a diploma application online or a hard copy if the deadline has been missed. The deadline is January 15, 2023. Submit diploma application questions to the One Stop Student Services Center. Please note that completion of a diploma application does not imply that graduation requirements have been met.

Financial

Complete FAFSA by January 15 to Maximize Financial Aid Resources—All Students
Students should complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to maximize options for financial aid resources including scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study. The priority deadline for continuing students is January 15, 2023. Filing after January 15 is still possible, but students will not be considered for the maximum amount of aid. Please check these links for how to apply, tips for the FAFSA application, and more information on financial aid. Campus-specific resources can also be found here. 

Student Health Insurance Information—All Students
Rutgers requires full-time and all F & J Rutgers visa-sponsored students to waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) each semester before the deadline. The Health Insurance premium is automatically added to the term bill each semester. The SHIP is optional for part-time students and the premium is not added to the term bill. The deadline to waive or enroll is February 10, 2023.

• WAIVING? Students who have comparable health insurance may complete the waiver to get the premium removed from their term bills. Students who have failed to waive before the deadline will have enrollment in the SHIP processed and will then be responsible for paying the premium on the term bill even if they have other health insurance.
• ENROLLING? Students who do not have health insurance should complete the enrollment form. Paying the premium on the term bill is not enrolling. Students should complete the enrollment form each semester to finalize the process.

Financial Literacy Workshops for Spring—All Students
More financial literary workshops will be scheduled for the spring semester. Students may visit Scarlet$ense, a new campus-wide comprehensive program on financial literacy at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, for more financial tips and information.

Taxable Tuition Remission—Students Who are Staff or Faculty
Please be aware that the full value of staff/faculty graduate tuition remission is subject to federal and New Jersey state tax withholding. In addition, under federal regulations, any graduate tuition remission benefit over $5,250 per calendar year is also considered taxable. Please refer to the 2023 Tax Withholding Schedule for Spring 2023 withholding dates.

TA/GA/Fellows Payroll Deduction—Graduate Students
TAs, GAs, and Graduate Fellows may enroll in payroll deduction to make payments for charges not covered by tuition remission, such as housing, dining, or student fees. Please complete the online form to enroll in payroll deduction and view the Spring 2023 payroll deduction schedule here.

Winter 2023 Term Bills—All Students
Winter Session 2023 term bills were due on December 5, 2022. Term bills can be paid online through OTB.

Spring 2023 Payment Plans—All Students
Spring 2023 payment plans are open for enrollment and students can pay term bills in convenient monthly payments. The last day to enroll in a payment plan for Spring 2023 is February 5, 2023. Learn more about creating a payment plan here.

Set Up Direct Deposit to Receive Refunds Faster—All Students
Direct deposit is the fastest, safest, and most convenient way to receive refunds issued by Rutgers. All students are required to enroll in direct deposit. Please note that direct deposit is currently not available for summer or winter refunds. View instructions for setting up direct deposit here.

Cash Payments & Change in Operating Hours—All Students
Due to the health and safety concerns associated with handling cash for students and staff, it is strongly encouraged that students use electronic payment methods instead of cash payments for paying term bills. Please review payment options and the Cash Handling Policy for more information.

GradGuard Epidemic Coverage Endorsement—All Students
Rutgers University has partnered with GradGuard to make the Tuition Protection Insurance Plan available to students and families. The plan helps students and their families overcome the financial losses that may result from events that force students to withdraw from the semester due to a covered medical reason, including mental health conditions and illness from epidemic and pandemic diseases. myGuest Authorized User Access for Term Bills, Grades, and More—All Students
Students can authorize a third party or a parent with access to review academic records, view financial aid rewards, or make payments on their behalf. To grant this access, students must log in to their myRutgers Dashboard, and use the "Authorized Access" icon to provide access to the desired authorized party. Additional instructions for the myGuest Dashboard can be found here.

One Stop Student Services Center and Walk-Ins—All Students
The One Stop Student Services Center (One Stop) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick represents an integrated and coordinated cross-functional service in the areas of financial aid, student accounts, and registration.  One Stop acts as a “single point of service” across these areas to promote a progressive, simplified, and consistent student experience and a culture that supports student satisfaction and success. Questions can be submitted using the contact form, by phone at 848-445-4636 (INFO), or by visiting the One Stop at Dr. Samuel Dewitt Proctor Hall located at 65 Davidson Road on Busch Campus. No appointments are necessary for walk-ins. The center is open Monday–Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students can follow updates from One Stop on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Living-Learning Community Applications Due January 22—Undergraduate Students
Rutgers offers current students a multitude of living-learning community opportunities. Students in learning communities enjoy the benefits of sharing common residential and academic experiences while making new friends, exploring common interests, and being a part of a close community of peers. Rutgers University 257^th Anniversary Commencement—Graduating Students
The 2023 Rutgers–New Brunswick and RBHS Commencement ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at SHI Stadium. Information regarding regalia sales, parking registration, shout out filming, day-of information, and more is available on the website. More information will be sent to students' ScarletMail accounts, and family and friends are also able to sign up for email updates regarding Commencement. Engagement Hub Is Here—Undergraduate Students
The Engagement Hub is a new addition offered by the Student Activities Center and will serve as a resource for students looking to get involved on campus. The Engagement Hub is the home for the Engagement Ambassadors who are knowledgeable undergraduate student consultants who serve as a resource for their fellow Scarlet Knights. Academics

Get Ahead in Classes with the Learning Centers—All Students
The Learning Centers help students reach their full academic potential by offering tutoring, academic coaching, writing tutoring, and study groups. Students can build connections with a community of learners, either in-person or online, while enhancing academic performance. It is best for students to start engaging with services early in order to take a proactive step toward success. New visitors who use any services between January 17 and February 7 will automatically be entered into a raffle. Learn more about services and the raffle here.  

Applications for the Rutgers-Eagleton Washington Internship Award—Undergraduate Students
The Eagleton Institute of Politics is accepting applications for the Rutgers-Eagleton Washington Internship Award. The $6,000 award supports outstanding Rutgers students who are interested in completing an unpaid, non-profit government internship in Washington D.C. during Summer 2023. This opportunity is open to all class years, including first years and graduating seniors, all majors, and all campus locations. Applicants do not need to have an internship secured at the time of application. The application deadline is Friday, February 10, 2023, at 5 p.m. Learn more and apply here.

Applications for the Leadership Scholars Certificate Program—Undergraduate Students
The Institute for Women's Leadership is accepting applications for the Leadership Scholars Certificate Program. This two-year and 19-credit certificate program explores women’s leadership for social change, with benefits such as a career-building internship, funding for self-designed social action projects, and building community with other young women leaders. The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy is accepting applications for their master’s programs in Public Informatics, Health Administration, and Public Affairs & Politics. The GRE is waived for Fall 2023 applications and scholarships are available. The deadline to apply is July 1, 2023, and no work experience is necessary. Learn more here.

Success.rutgers.edu is dedicated to helping students find all of the services and resources to succeed and is organized around four themes: Success Essentials, Academic Support Services, Involvement & Community, and Experiential Learning & Career Preparation. The site is easily searchable and includes important "How To" instructional videos and guides for topics such as Course Scheduling, Add/Drop, Canvas, Teams, the Handshake Career Management platform, and more.

Jobs, Internships and Leadership Positions

Students should regularly check out the employment listings available on Rutgers Handshake, your primary career management portal brought to you by the Office of Career Exploration and Success. On-campus part-time jobs are also regularly posted to the platform by campus departments.

Rutgers Internship and Co-op Course (RICC)—Undergraduate Students
The Rutgers Internship and Co-Op Course (RICC) is a 3 or 6-credit general elective course that students can take concurrently with an internship or co-op experience to earn academic credit. The course is housed in Canvas and is an asynchronous with three virtual synchronous meetings throughout the semester. Applications are now open for those interning this Spring, and the application deadline is mid-January 2023. Learn more and apply here.
