Fall 2023 Add/Drop Dates—Undergraduate Students

September 14: Last day to drop courses without a "W" grade and last day to add courses
October 30: Last day to withdraw from a course with a “W” grade

Dining Plan Change and Cancellation Requests—All Students
Dining plan change and cancellation requests for the Fall 2023 semester are now being accepted online. The deadline to reduce or cancel the Fall 2023 meal plan is Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

Important Graduation Information—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students who anticipate completing January 2024 degree requirements must apply for graduation by submitting a diploma application online or a hard copy if the deadline has been missed. The January deadline is January 15, 2024. Any questions concerning a diploma application can be submitted to the Undergraduate Registrar’s Office via this webform. Please note that completion of a diploma application does not imply that graduation requirements have been met.

Fall 2023 semester term bills are available to view and pay online here.

Rutgers Tuition Payment Plans—All Students
Rutgers has partnered with Nelnet Campus Commerce to allow students to pay tuition and fees over time in an interest-free plan that automatically deducts the amount from bank accounts via e-check payment, credit card, or debit card. Fall 2023 and Annual 2023/2024 payment plans are open for enrollment. View payment plan options here.

Enroll in Direct Deposit for Faster Refunds—All Students
Direct deposit is the fastest, safest, and most convenient way to receive refunds issued by Rutgers. View instructions for setting up direct deposit here. International students who are eligible for a refund can enroll in direct deposit using a U.S. bank account. Please note that direct deposit is currently not available for summer or winter refunds.

Waive/Enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) for Fall 2023—All Students
Rutgers University requires full-time and all F&J Rutgers visa-sponsored students to waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) each semester before the deadline. The health insurance premium is automatically added to the term bill each semester. The SHIP is optional for part-time students and the premium is not added to the term bill. The deadline to waive or enroll is September 22, 2023.

• WAIVING? Students who have comparable health insurance may complete the waiver to get the premium removed from their term bills. Students who have failed to waive before the deadline will have enrollment in the SHIP processed and will then be responsible for paying the premium on the term bill even if they have other health insurance.
• ENROLLING? Students who do not have health insurance should complete the enrollment form. Paying the premium on the term bill is not enrolling. Students should complete the enrollment form each semester to finalize the process.

TA/GA/Graduate Fellow Tuition Remission Payroll Deduction—TAs, GAs, and Graduate Fellows
TAs, GAs, and Graduate Fellows may enroll in payroll deduction to make payments for charges not covered by tuition remission, such as housing, dining, or student fees. Please complete the online form to enroll in payroll deduction no later than the sixth week of the semester. The deadline to enroll in the 9-payment deduction is September 7, 2023, at 3 p.m.

Staff/Faculty Taxable Remission—Graduate Students Who Are Staff/Faculty
Please be aware that the full value of staff/faculty graduate tuition remission is subject to federal and New Jersey state tax withholding. In addition, under federal regulations, any graduate tuition remission benefit over $5,250 per calendar year is also considered taxable. Please refer to the 2023 Tax Withholding Schedule for Fall 2023 withholding dates.

Cash Payments—All Students
Due to the health and safety concerns associated with handling cash for students and staff, it is strongly encouraged that students use electronic payment methods instead of cash payments for paying term bills. Please review payment options and the Cash Handling Policy for more information.

myGuest Authorized User Access for Term Bills, Grades, and More—All Students
Students can authorize a third party or a parent with access to review academic records, view financial aid rewards, or make payments on their behalf. To grant this access, students must log in to their myRutgers Dashboard, and use the "Authorized Access" icon to provide access to the desired authorized party. Additional instructions for the myGuest Dashboard can be found here.

Financial Aid Disbursement Processing—All Students
Financial aid scheduled to disburse on September 5 may take up to a few business days to be reflected on student term bills. During this time, “offered” aid may disappear from bills and reappear a few days thereafter. This is a normal process. Please do not submit inquiries about fund disbursement as these updates process.

One Stop Student Services Center and Walk-Ins—All Students
The One Stop Student Services Center (One Stop) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick represents an integrated and coordinated cross-functional service in the areas of financial aid, student accounts, and registration. One Stop acts as a “single point of service” across these areas to promote a progressive, simplified, and consistent student experience and a culture that supports student satisfaction and success. Questions can be submitted using the contact form, by phone at 848-445-4636 (INFO), or by visiting the One Stop at Dr. Samuel Dewitt Proctor Hall located at 65 Davidson Road on Busch Campus. No appointments are necessary for walk-ins. The center is open Monday–Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students can follow updates from One Stop on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Rutgers–New Brunswick Campus Buses Website and New PassioGO App—All Students
Students can access a full range of bus information on the Parking and Transportation Services website. Route maps, schedules, and helpful videos are all available to assist in navigating the Rutgers University–New Brunswick Campus Bus System. Students can also view real-time bus arrival information by using the PassioGO App on phones or a computer browser. Please note that the Transloc App will no longer be servicing Rutgers bus routes.

Register to Vote or Update Voter Registration for the 2023 Election—All Students
Students seeking to vote in New Jersey should register to vote or update voter registration by October 17, 2023, to be able to vote in the election on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Out-of-state students are also eligible to register in New Jersey but should be sure to check their state's election deadlines and requirements. Learn more about voting here.

Register Local Addresses—All Students
Students who are renting in the local community must register local addresses and emergency contact information with Off-Campus Living & Community Initiatives in order to be kept updated on municipal information, programming, emergency alerts, and other helpful information related to living off-campus.

Academics

Add/Drop Deadline and Helpful Reminders—Undergraduate Students
The last day to add or drop a course without a “W” is Thursday, September 14, 2023. Remember:

• Full-time status is 12 credits, but enrolling in and completing at least 15 credits each semester will help students maintain financial aid eligibility and be on track to graduate in four years.
• Students should speak with an academic advisor at their school before adding or dropping courses to make sure the changes work with academic plans.
• Watch the Add/Drop videos on the “How To” section of success.rutgers.edu. 
• Utilize academic support services to help with successfully completing each course.

The Learning Centers' Academic Success Series Workshops Start September 12—Undergraduate Students
The Learning Centers’ Academic Coaching workshops this semester can teach students how to build study schedules. On Tuesday, September 12, the Drop–In Build-a-Study-Schedule workshop takes place at the Busch Learning Center. The School of Communication and Information (SC&I) is accepting applications for admission to majors in Communication, Information Technology and Informatics, and Journalism and Media Studies. Resources are organized in four sections: Success Essentials, Academic Support Services, Involvement & Community, and Experiential Learning & Career Preparation. The site is easily searchable and includes a "How To" section with instructional videos and guides for Add/Drop, Course Scheduling, Canvas, Teams, the Handshake Career Management platform, and an extensive Definition of Terms for college and Rutgers.

Students should regularly check out the employment listings available on Rutgers Handshake, your primary career management portal brought to you by the Office of Career Exploration and Success. On-campus part-time jobs are also regularly posted to the platform by campus departments.

Student employment opportunities, both in-person and remote, are available for currently registered students. Students are encouraged to log in to their Rutgers Handshake accounts and search for the "On-campus Student Employment" job type to apply. Rutgers Career & Internship Mega Fair
The Career & Internship Mega Fair is held from September 19 to September 22. Over 400 employers will be available to network with candidates to discuss full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities from a wide variety of fields at Jersey Mike's Arena on the Livingston Campus from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This event is only open to Rutgers University students (New Brunswick, Camden, Newark, and RBHS) and alumni from all academic disciplines. Register and learn more here.
