Important Information Regarding COVID-19
The Universitywide COVID-19 Information Page is your official source of information about the university’s response to COVID-19. This page has resources for students and parents along with announcements pertaining to COVID-19, FAQs, and the operating statuses of services, facilities, and offices at Rutgers. You are encouraged to check this site frequently.
Fall 2021 Pre-Registration—Undergraduate Students
Pre-registration for the Fall 2021 semester began on Monday, April 19, at 9 a.m. for New Brunswick undergraduate students with 90+ credits and continues through Tuesday, April 27. Registration is by degree credits already earned. Please submit any questions via this contact form and view the pre-registration schedule here.
Financial Holds—All Students
Financial holds have been placed on accounts which have unpaid balances. These holds will prevent students from registering for Fall 2021 semester classes. Students who are enrolled in tuition payment plans should make sure that the last payment on a plan will satisfy any outstanding balance. Financial aid recipients should check online to make sure all financial aid has been credited. View the balance of a student account here.
Student Refunds—International Students
International students receiving a refund are eligible to receive their funds either through Flywire, Direct Deposit, or Online Term Bill Credit Transfer. Please complete this form immediately in order to specify which refund method is preferred.
Chosen/Preferred Name—All Students
Since September 2014, Rutgers University has recognized that members of the university community use names other than their legal names. In an effort to continue to promote the comfort and safety of students who wish to be identified by a name other than their legal name, the university has updated the preferred name procedure. Students may now submit their chosen/preferred name directly via ScarletHub. Learn more about this process here.
The Office of Financial Aid Partners with Inceptia—All Students
The Office of Financial Aid is pleased to announce a partnership with Inceptia to simplify the federal verification process. Rutgers University is required to verify the data supplied on the FAFSA in cases where the application is selected for verification. Through Inceptia, students and parents are able to submit requested documents through a secure upload process. If a FAFSA is selected, the student will receive an email from VGCS@inceptia.org or a postcard with a website link to start the verification process. Students who receive a notice should avoid delays by beginning the process immediately. Learn more about this process here.
Virtual Open Hearing on the University’s Tuition, Fees, and Housing and Dining Charges for 2021–2022—All Students
All university community members are invited to the Virtual Open Hearing on the University’s Tuition, Fees, and Housing and Dining Charges for 2021–2022 on Wednesday, April 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. Comments made at the hearing help inform university administration while developing tuition and fees. Prospective speakers must register online or by emailing secretary@oq.rutgers.edu before noon on Tuesday, April 27. Please submit comments online until Friday, April 23, 2021. 2021 Summer Session Registration—All Students
Registration for Summer Session 2021 is ongoing. Choose from over 2,500 courses in a wide range of subjects. Make progress toward graduation, improve your GPA, or fulfill a prerequisite this summer. Learn more about Summer Session here.
Pass/No Credit Option for Spring 2021—Undergraduate Students
The Pass/No Credit option remains available to undergraduate students for courses taken during the Spring 2021 semester. Students should evaluate this option carefully and in consultation with academic advisors at their school to understand the full ramifications of such a decision for their particular academic major, career path, and financial aid standing. COVID-19 Testing Information & Contact Tracing—All Students
All students living in campus housing, living off-campus in the New Brunswick/Piscataway area, and students in groups required to receive testing can access testing through Rutgers Student Health. Details about testing can be found here.
- Off-campus students must register their local address here. Local addresses are needed in order for public health officials to properly track and respond to the pandemic.
- There is no cost for testing through Rutgers Student Health.
- Students who experience symptoms, had contact with someone who tested positive, are worried, or are unsure about getting tested, should call Rutgers Student Health at 848-932-7402. Student Health will schedule a same-day appointment time to speak with a clinician, answer questions, and provide a test that day.
- Students who are contacted by a Contact Tracer are highly encouraged to speak with them. Contact Tracers provide valuable information and resources to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
2021 University Commencement Shout Out Submissions—All Students
Rutgers–New Brunswick graduates are invited to submit shout out videos for virtual University Commencement. The deadline to submit shout out videos has been extended to Sunday, April 25. Students who submit all 6 of the shots will be put into a drawing to win a $100 Amazon gift card. The videos will be featured during the opening and closing of University Commencement. Register for the Virtual Rainbow Graduation—All Students
The Virtual Rainbow Graduation will be held on May 5, 2021. Rainbow Graduation is a celebration that honors the achievements of Rutgers' lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) identified undergraduate and graduate students, and acknowledges the challenges and triumphs experienced during their academic careers. Register for the Black and Latinx Rites of Passage Pre-Commencement Ceremony—All Students
Rites of Passage is a pre-commencement celebration to honor Black and Latinx-identified students who, through resolute persistence, have successfully completed an undergraduate or graduate degree at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. Graduates must complete a two-step registration process by April 21, 2021. The event will be held on May 12, 2021. This ceremony is also looking for speakers, performers, and more. Asian Pacific Islander and Desi American Graduation and Leadership Awards—All Students
Students are invited to register for the Asian Pacific Islander and Desi American Graduation and Leadership Awards (APIDA GALA) held on May 7 at 6 p.m. This event celebrates the outstanding achievements, accomplishments, and contributions of individual student leaders, organizations, and graduating seniors of the APIDA community at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. Pa’lante: Student Leader Recognition Ceremony—All Students
The Center for Latino Arts and Culture invites students to register for the Pa’lante: Student Leader Recognition Ceremony on May 13 at 5 p.m. to honor the persistence, achievement, and service of graduating Latinx-identified and other affiliated undergraduate and graduate students. Graduates must register by April 29 to receive a digital certificate and complementary stole as recognition for their participation in the program. Learn more and register here.
#Rutgersworks Free Tuition Challenge—All Students
The Office of Career Exploration and Success invites students to participate in the #Rutgersworks Free Tuition Challenge. Students who complete a number of virtual career-related activities will receive stamps, and once 10 stamps have been accrued, they will be entered into the grand prize raffle for free tuition. To enter, please visit the challenge's webpage and create a gameboard with a NETID and password and begin earning stamps today. The deadline is April 30, 2021. Learn more about the challenge here.
Apply to be a Writing Coach for the Learning Centers—All Students
The Learning Centers are now hiring undergraduate and graduate students as Writing Coaches. Coaches will have the opportunity to work individually with Rutgers students and assist in various forms of writing, including course assignments, personal statements, and research writing. Coaches may also conduct group workshops (Basic Composition and Expository Writing courses are excluded). The application deadline is May 1, 2021. Learn more and apply here.
Summer Internship Course: Rutgers Internship and Co-op Program (RICP)—Undergraduate Students
Applications are open for the Rutgers Internship and Co-op Program (RICP). Students can earn 3 or 6 general elective credits during the Summer taken concurrently with an internship experience. The summer application deadline is May 22, 2021. Learn more and apply here.
Applications for the New SC&I Master's Program in Health Communication and Information—Undergraduate Students
The School of Communication and Information (SC&I) is hosting two online information sessions for the new Master of Health Communication and Information (MHCI) program. Information sessions are on May 12 at 6:30 p.m., and on June 9 at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Richard Dool, MHCI Program Director, will discuss program details, the application and admissions process, and careers in the health and communication field.
