Important Information Regarding COVID-19

Spring 2022 Add-Drop Dates—Undergraduate Students Through March 21: Undergraduate drop period with a "W" grade April 18: Last day to withdraw from the university for Spring 2022

Dining Plan Change and Cancellation Requests—All Students
Dining plan change and cancellation requests for the Spring 2022 semester are now being accepted online until Tuesday, February 15, 2022. This is the only time during the semester that reductions and cancellations will be allowed. Students can find the most up-to-date information about dining services and meal plans here.

RU Express Cancellation and Reduction Requests—All Students
RU Express initial deposit cancellation and reduction requests for the Spring 2022 semester are now being accepted online until Tuesday, February 15, 2022. This is the only time during the semester that cancellations or reductions will be allowed and only if the money for the Spring 2022 semester HAS NOT been used. Students can find the most up-to-date information about dining services and meal plans here.

Financial

New Financial Aid Program—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students in their third and fourth years of study may qualify for the Garden State Guarantee (GSG) commencing Fall 2022. The GSG is New Jersey’s promise to make a college degree more accessible and affordable by reducing the out-of-pocket costs for students and families. Eligible applicants must be New Jersey residents working toward their first bachelor’s degree and file the 2022–2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by April 15, 2022. View and Pay Spring Semester Term Bills—All Students Spring 2022 term bills are now available to view and make payment. Term bills not paid by the due date will be assessed a late payment fee of $125.00. Payments are accepted in the form of e-check or credit card and can be made via the online term bill. Please note that in-person cash payments are currently suspended due to COVID-19 protocols.

Rutgers Tuition Payment Plans—All Students Students can also choose to enroll in a payment plan for assistance with paying their term bill balances at paymentplans.rutgers.edu. Additional Spring 2022 payment plans have been created for students who missed the January 5 deadline and are available now.  

Sign Up for Direct Deposit to Receive Refunds—All Students Students are strongly encouraged to sign up for direct deposit for the fastest, safest, and most convenient way to receive refunds. Funds are available for immediate use once deposited. Learn more about direct deposit here

1098Ts—All Students Starting at the end of January, students will receive an email notification with instructions for viewing and printing the 2021 1098T tax forms for Educational Tax Credits. Students with scholarships and grant aid greater than their qualified tuition and fee charges are not eligible to claim a tax deduction and will not see a 1098T form. Learn more about the 1098T form here

One Stop Student Services Center and Walk-Ins—All Students
The One Stop Student Services Center (One Stop) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick represents an integrated and coordinated cross-functional service in the areas of financial aid, student accounts, and registration.  One Stop acts as a “single point of service” across these areas to promote a progressive, simplified, and consistent student experience and a culture that supports student satisfaction and success. Questions can be submitted using the contact form, by phone at 848-445-4636 (INFO), or by visiting the One Stop at Dr. Samuel Dewitt Proctor Hall located at 65 Davidson Road on Busch Campus. No appointments are necessary for walk-ins. The center is open Monday–Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Health

Covid-19 Booster Vaccinations—All Students
COVID-19 booster shots are available at Rutgers vaccination sites. Learn more about eligibility for a booster, how to schedule an appointment, and how to upload booster documentation on the Rutgers' COVID-19 Vaccine webpage here.

Student Health Insurance Information—All Students
Rutgers University requires full-time and all F & J Rutgers visa-sponsored students to waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan before the deadline each semester. The Health Insurance premium is automatically added to the term bill each semester for the 2021–2022 policy year. The spring open waiver/enrollment period ends on Thursday, February 17, 2022.

  • Enrolling? Paying the premium on the term bill is not enrolling. Students must complete the enrollment form before the deadline.
  • Waiving? The premium will be removed from the term bill within 4 business days after submission of the waiver form.

General

Commencement Information—All Students
The Rutgers University–New Brunswick and Rutgers Biomedical & Health Sciences Commencement will take place on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at SHI Stadium on the Busch Campus. School convocations are scheduled on the surrounding days. Please visit the Commencement website for more information regarding these events, regalia sales, and more. Students should continue to check their ScarletMail accounts as ceremony information will be sent via email. Family and friends are also able to sign up for the Commencement newsletter for up-to-date information on the upcoming May 15, 2022, ceremony.

Academics

Tutoring, Study Groups, Academic Coaching, and Writing Assistance—All Students
Students are encouraged to take full advantage of the wide range of resources available through the Learning Centers. The Learning Centers offer a variety of peer-led academic support services which help increase academic performance, especially when students sign up early and proactively. Applications for the Rutgers–Eagleton Washington Internship Award Program—Undergraduate Students
The Rutgers–Eagleton Washington Internship Award Program provides up to $5,000 for outstanding Rutgers undergraduate students who are completing an in-person summer internship in the government/nonprofit sector. This program is meant to ease the financial burden of a summer internship in Washington, D.C., and is open to all campuses, class years, and majors. Students do not need to have an internship in place at the time of application. For Summer 2022, applications are due online by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022. Applications for the Ralph W. Voorhees Fellowship in Public Service—Undergraduate Students
The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy has established the Ralph W. Voorhees Fellowship Program in Public Service to honor Mr. Voorhees' commitment to community service. Each year, the school selects undergraduates from any major at Rutgers–New Brunswick who are dedicated to civic engagement. Fellows receive $5,000 and participate in a credit-bearing partnership with community organizations. Did you know that a team at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School has developed a rapid screening test for Omicron and other SARS-CoV-2 variants? The test, which is up for approval for clinical testing, could guide treatment and identify high-risk patients. Read more about the development here.
