Fall Health and Well-Being Protocols
The Universitywide COVID-19 Information Page is your official source of information about the university’s response to COVID-19. This page has resources for students and parents along with announcements pertaining to COVID-19, FAQs, and the operating statuses of services, facilities, and offices at Rutgers. You are encouraged to check this site frequently.

Fall 2022 Add/Drop Dates—Undergraduate Students
September 15: Last day to drop courses without a "W" grade and last day to add courses
October 31: Last day to withdraw from a course with a “W” grade
December 15: Last day to withdraw from the University for Fall 2022

Dining Plan Change and Cancellation Requests—All Students
Dining plan change and cancellation requests for the Fall 2022 semester are now being accepted online until Tuesday, September 20, 2022. This is the only time during the semester that reductions and cancellations will be allowed.

Important Graduation Information—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students who anticipate completing January 2023 degree requirements must apply for graduation by submitting a diploma application online or a hard copy if the deadline has been missed. The deadline is January 15, 2023. Any questions concerning a diploma application can be submitted to the Undergraduate Registrar’s Office via this webform. Please note that completion of a diploma application does not imply that graduation requirements have been met.

Disclosure Statements

Disclosure Statements—All Students Students can find legal disclosures and information concerning academic programs, drug and alcohol policies, including the Drug Free Schools and Campuses Act, the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, institutional and specialized accreditation, nondiscrimination and harassment, Title IX, public safety information, peer-to-peer file sharing, withdrawal from the institution, and more here.

Suicide Prevention Act
Rutgers has individuals with training and experience in mental health issues who focus on reducing student suicides and attempted suicides. These individuals are available on campus or remotely by telephone or other means for students 24 hours a day, seven days a week. File Sharing Software The sharing of music and movies through the use of file sharing peer to peer (P2P) software available online is discouraged due to copyright and security issues. In compliance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), the university has provided guidelines to inform students about copyright laws. Copyright infringement and unauthorized distribution are against the law and will be enforced. Learn more about the policy here (PDF).

Minors on Campus
Guidelines for appropriate protection and supervision of minors participating in university-sponsored programs, or in programs operated by outside entities that are held in university facilities, can be found here (PDF).

Financial

Information for Federal Government's Student Debt Relief Plan—All Students
The federal government has announced a plan to cancel up to $10,000 in federal student debt for Americans earning less than $125,000 per year ($250,000 for couples), and up to $20,000 for borrowers who received Pell Grants while they were in college. Students or borrowers with questions are encouraged to check the Federal Student Aid's website and to sign up for email updates from the U.S. Department of Education for more information. The White House's Fact Sheet containing data related to the debt relief and extension of the loan repayment pause can be viewed here.

View and Pay Fall Semester Term Bills—All Students
Fall semester term bills are now available to view and make payment. It is recommended that students enroll in one of the Rutgers University Tuition Payment Plans (RUTPP) to conveniently pay their term bills in monthly installments. Please view additional information and payment plan options here.

Set Up Direct Deposit to Receive Refunds Faster—All Students
Direct deposit is the fastest, safest, and most convenient way to receive refunds issued by Rutgers. All students are required to enroll in direct deposit. Please note that direct deposit is currently not available for summer. View instructions for setting up direct deposit here.

Cash Payments—All Students
Due to the health and safety concerns associated with handling cash for students and staff, we strongly encourage using electronic payment methods instead of cash payments. Please review payment options and the Cash Handling Policy for more information.

GradGuard Epidemic Coverage Endorsement—All Students
GradGuard Tuition Insurance Plans purchased on or after February 18, 2022, now include the Epidemic Coverage Endorsement, which can provide coverage for when an insured student completely withdraws from school for the covered term due to becoming ill with any epidemic or pandemic disease, including COVID-19 and Monkeypox. myGuest Authorized User Access for Term Bills, Grades, and More—All Students
Students can authorize a third party or a parent with access to review academic records, view financial aid rewards, or make payments on their behalf. To grant this access, students must log in to their myRutgers Dashboard, and use the "Authorized Access" icon to provide access to the desired authorized party. Additional instructions for the myGuest Dashboard can be found here.

Waive or Enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan—All Students
Rutgers requires full-time and all F & J Rutgers visa-sponsored students to waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan each semester before the deadline. The Health Insurance premium is automatically added to the term bill each semester. The fall deadline to enroll is September 23, 2022.

  • WAIVING? Students who have comparable health insurance should complete the waiver to get the premium removed from the term bill.
  • ENROLLING? Please complete the enrollment form. Paying the premium on the term bill is not enrolling.

Scarlet $ense Financial Literacy Program—All Students
Rutgers University–New Brunswick introduces a new campus-wide comprehensive program on financial literacy that includes—but is not limited to—student loan borrowing and repayments, budgeting, savings, investing, and debt. In addition, students have access to a free financial literacy website, workshops, freshman and transfer seminars, and webinars on financial literacy topics.

One Stop Student Services Center and Walk-Ins—All Students
The One Stop Student Services Center (One Stop) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick represents an integrated and coordinated cross-functional service in the areas of financial aid, student accounts, and registration.  One Stop acts as a “single point of service” across these areas to promote a progressive, simplified, and consistent student experience and a culture that supports student satisfaction and success. Questions can be submitted using the contact form, by phone at 848-445-4636 (INFO), or by visiting the One Stop at Dr. Samuel Dewitt Proctor Hall located at 65 Davidson Road on Busch Campus. No appointments are necessary for walk-ins. The center is open Monday–Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students can follow updates from One Stop on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

General

Rutgers University–New Brunswick Campus Buses Website—All Students
Students can access a full range of bus information on the Parking and Transportation Services website. Route maps, schedules, and helpful videos are all available to assist in navigating the Rutgers University–New Brunswick Campus Bus System. Students can also view real-time bus arrival information on phones using the Rutgers Mobile App or the Transloc App, both available on Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

Register Local Addresses—All Students Students who are renting in the local community must register local addresses and emergency contact information with Off-Campus Living & Community Partnerships in order to be kept updated on municipal information, programming, emergency alerts, and other helpful information related to living off-campus.

Rutgers Food Pantry—All Students The Rutgers Student Food Pantry (RSFP) is dedicated to helping students in need. Its primary mission is to provide necessary food and personal care products to members of the Rutgers community. All services are confidential and no appointment is necessary—only a Rutgers ID card is needed. Services are provided by Off-Campus Living & Community Partnerships and the pantry is located at the College Avenue Student Center in room 115 (lower level). Follow the Rutgers Student Food Pantry on Facebook and Instagram (@RUFOODPANTRY) for up-to-date information.

Make a plan to vote in the 2022 Midterm Election—All Students
There is an election on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Students who want to cast their vote in elections happening this fall must be registered to vote. On-campus undergraduate and graduate students can register at their on-campus residence hall or off-campus address. Out-of-state students are also eligible to register in New Jersey. All New Jersey voter registration changes must be completed by Tuesday, October 18. Out-of-state voters should be sure to check their state's election deadlines and requirements. Academics

Add/Drop Deadline and Helpful Reminders—Undergraduate Students
The last day to add a course or drop a course without a “W” is Thursday, September 15, 2022. A few tips for students during this period:

  • Speak with an academic advisor before adding or dropping courses to make sure the changes work with academic plans.
  • Watch the Add/Drop videos on the “How To” section of success.rutgers.edu
  • Be sure to maintain full-time status (at least 12 credits) and try to take at least 15 credits. Enrolling in and completing 15+ credits each semester will help keep students on track to graduate in four years and minimize debt.
  • Utilize academic support services to help successfully complete each course.

Learning Centers and Services are Now Open—All Students
The Learning Centers help students reach their full academic potential by offering tutoring, academic coaching, writing tutoring, and study groups. Students can build connections with a community of learners, either in-person or online, while enhancing academic performance. New visitors who use any services through September 27 will automatically be entered into a raffle. Learn more about services and the raffle here.

School of Communication and Information Is Now Accepting Applications—Undergraduate Students
The School of Communication and Information (SC&I) is now accepting applications for admission to the Communication, Information Technology and Informatics, and Journalism and Media Studies majors. The deadline for online applications is Friday, October 7, 2022. Learn more about SC&I programs and the application process at the information session scheduled for Wednesday, September 28 at 5:30 p.m. in room 323 of the SC&I building on the College Avenue Campus. Applications for the Master’s Program in Human Resource Management—Undergraduate Students
The Master of Human Resource Management Program within the School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) is currently accepting applications for 2023. This top-tier ranked program is hosting a virtual open house on Thursday, September 15, from noon to 1 p.m. Meet with Program Director David Ferio, student advisors, and a SMLR career management specialist to learn about program benefits and careers in Human Resources. Applications for the Master’s Program in Labor and Employment Relations—Undergraduate Students
The Labor Studies & Employment Relations Department at the School of Management & Labor Relations (SMLR) is currently accepting applications from Rutgers undergraduate students of all majors. The Master's in Labor and Employment Relations program allows students to expand their horizons from the employee and employer perspectives across many types of organizations including corporations, non-profits, unions, social justice organizations, and state/federal government agencies. The program is hosting a virtual information session on September 28 from noon to 1 p.m. Learn more and register for the information session here.

Student Success Resources

Success.rutgers.edu is dedicated to helping students find all of the services and resources to succeed and is organized around four themes: Success Essentials, Academic Support Services, Involvement & Community, and Experiential Learning & Career Preparation. The site is easily searchable and includes important "How To" instructional videos and guides for topics such as Course Scheduling, Add/Drop, Canvas, Teams, the Handshake Career Management platform, and more.

Success Weeks (September 12–23, 2022) offer academic and skill development workshops, in-person and virtual talks, and a career fair. All sessions will be focused on the pillars of student success: timely graduation with minimal debt, the development of essential skills and competencies, and first-choice placement after graduation.

Jobs, Internships and Leadership Positions

Students should regularly check out the employment listings available on Rutgers Handshake, your primary career management portal brought to you by the Office of Career Exploration and SuccessOn-campus part-time jobs are also regularly posted to the platform by campus departments.

Find Employment On Campus with Rutgers Handshake—All Students Student employment opportunities, both in-person and remote, are available for currently registered students. Students are encouraged to log in to their Rutgers Handshake accounts and search for the "On-campus Student Employment" job type to apply. To create an account, visit the Handshake webpage, click the button, and log-in with a NETID and password.

Rutgers Career & Internship Mega Fair—All Students The Career & Internship Mega Fair is back and in person on September 15 and 16. Over 250 employers (different employers each day) will be available to network with candidates to discuss full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities from a wide variety of fields at Jersey Mike's Arena on the Livingston Campus from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event is only open to Rutgers University students (New Brunswick, Camden, Newark, and RBHS) and alumni from all academic disciplines.
