Important Information Regarding COVID-19
The Universitywide COVID-19 Information Page is your official source of information about the university’s response to COVID-19. You are encouraged to check this site frequently.
Regular Classes End This Week
Thursday, December 10, is the last day of regular classes for the semester. Friday, December 11, and Monday, December 14, are Reading Days. The final exam period begins on Tuesday, December 15.
Important Information Regarding Pass/No Credit Policy—Undergraduate Students
The deadline for choosing the Pass/No Credit (P/NC) is not until Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Students should complete all semester requirements and receive their final grades before choosing the P/NC policy option. This option can impact prerequisites, spring courses and schedules, financial aid, time to degree, and post-graduate plans. Students should check out the facts and FAQs before making this important decision.
Spring 2021 Pre-Registration Is Ongoing—All Students
Pre-registration for Spring 2021 continues through Thursday, December 10. Registration for undergraduate students is by degree credits already earned. Please use this contact form for any questions and view the Spring 2021 registration schedule here.
"How To" Videos on the Student Success Resources Website—All Students
Students getting ready to schedule classes for spring or looking for academic support resources as they finish the semester can access “how to” instructional guides and videos on the Student Success Resources website. These "how to" videos pertain to course scheduling, WebReg or Add/Drop and explore the resources for advising, academic support, financial assistance, career preparation and more. This new website organizes the resources and services that support student success in one location.
2021–2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Is Now Available
The 2021–2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available. Continuing students should file before the January 15 priority deadline. Learn how to apply for financial aid here.
Financial Holds—All Students
Financial holds will be placed on accounts with unpaid balances. These holds will prevent students from registering for spring semester classes. Students enrolled in tuition payment plans should make sure their accounts are current. Financial aid recipients should review aid packages and check required documents on the Financial Aid webpage to make sure all documents have been submitted. Students can view the balances on their accounts here.
Set Up Electronic Deposit to Receive Refunds Faster—All Students
Students are strongly encouraged to set up direct deposit for the fastest, safest, and most convenient way to receive refunds. Funds are available for immediate use once deposited electronically. Learn more about electronic deposit here.
Spring 2021 Rutgers Tuition Payment Plans—All Student
Spring tuition payment plans are now available. Students looking to sign up for a Spring payment plan need to log into the current semester term bill to sign up until the Spring term bills are released. Visit paymentplans.rutgers.edu for more information.
Register for Winter Term—All Students
Registration for the Winter 2021 term is ongoing. Earn credits towards a degree during winter break and choose from more than 150 courses in a wide range of subjects. Learn more about Winter Session here.
Important Graduation Information—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students who anticipate completing January 2021 degree requirements must apply for graduation by submitting a diploma application online. The deadline is January 15, 2021. Please contact the Undergraduate Registrar’s Office via this contact form with any questions. Please note that completion of a diploma application does not imply that graduation requirements have been met.
Personal Meeting Room Reservations Available at Rutgers Student Centers—All Students
Student Centers and Activities has personal meeting room reservations for academic engagement available for students looking for a place to study, online classes, academic sessions, or exams and meetings with professors. Room reservations are limited to one per day for three hours, with a maximum of two people. A current RUID is required for reservations. Students can reserve space at the Busch, College Avenue or Livingston Student Centers here.
Apply for the Spring 2021 First-Year Fellowship Emerging Leaders Program—Undergraduate Students
The First-Year Fellowship Emerging Leaders Program is currently recruiting for spring semester. This program from the Office of Leadership & Experiential Learning in Student Centers and Activities is designed to support first-year and new transfer students in becoming the next generation of leaders on campus and beyond. This 8-week, 1.5-credit course gives students a chance to develop leadership styles and connect with other similarly-motivated first-year students. Applications are due on December 14, 2020.
Earn Credit Towards a Degree with the Rutgers Internship and Co-op Program—All Students
The Rutgers Internship and Co-op Program (RICP) is an online pass/fail course for academic credit during the spring semester while working at an internship. By enrolling in the course, students will have an instructor to offer expert advice and help navigate the work environment. Participants will also increase marketability to future employers by developing skills in career management, professionalism and work ethic, digital technology, and oral and written communications. Give a Gift through RUPA's Winter Wishes Program—All Students
Students can provide a child with gifts or books this holiday season through the Rutgers University Programming Association's (RUPA) Winter Wishes Program. Winter Wishes is an annual program that provides gifts of clothing and toys to children ages 3-5 in preschool in New Brunswick schools. This year, due to COVID-19, RUPA will be doing the shopping, but the community can help by adopting wishes. Winter Wish Adoption is online this year and will be open until December 15. COVID-19 Testing Information—All Students
All students living in campus housing, living off-campus in the New Brunswick/Piscataway area, and students in groups required to receive testing can access testing through Rutgers Student Health. Details about testing can be found here.
- Off-campus students must register their local address here. Local addresses are needed in order for public health officials to properly track and respond to the pandemic.
- There is no cost for testing through Rutgers Student Health.
- Students who experience symptoms, had contact with someone who tested positive, are worried, or are unsure about getting tested, should call Rutgers Student Health at 848-932-7402. Student Health will schedule a same-day appointment time to speak with a clinician, answer questions, and provide a test that day.
Byrne First-Year Seminars—Undergraduate Students
Byrne Seminars are small, one-credit courses taught by Rutgers’ world-renowned faculty who come from departments and professional schools across the university. Limited to just 20 students per section, each unique seminar introduces students to the professor’s area of expertise and their latest research. Over 55 seminars are available for the spring semester. This program is open to all first-year students. Please view complete listings here.
Data Science Undergraduate Certificate Program: Virtual Open House—Undergraduate Students
Students who are interested in learning how to turn data into insightful information and boost their academic profile are encouraged to apply to the Data Science Undergraduate Certificate Program being offered by the departments of Computer Science and Statistics starting this spring semester. This program is open to students in all fields of study, including but not limited to: Computer Science, Economics, Genetics, Geography, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, and Statistics. Interested students can meet with faculty and learn about program requirements from co-directors and advisors during a virtual open house on December 9 at 4:30 p.m. Please register for this session here.
Sign Up for 1:1 Meeting Slots to Learn About Bloustein School's Master's Programs—All Students
The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy is accepting applications for their masters or certificate programs in public policy, urban planning, public informatics, and health administration. Students who are passionate about public service, interested in a social impact career, and like working with data or in a leadership position in the healthcare industry are invited to apply. The GRE is waived for Fall 2021, and scholarships are available. Students can sign up for a meeting slot to speak with a representative at the Rutgers Graduate School Virtual Admissions Fair on December 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Applications for Teaching Certificates at the Graduate School of Education—Undergraduate Students
The Graduate School of Education (GSE) is accepting applications for their teaching certificate programs. Juniors can earn an Ed.M. and a teaching license with one additional year of study; Seniors need just two years. The GSE is New Jersey's top-ranked education school and its faculty and courses are rated among the best at Rutgers. Graduate School Information Session & UNMA Next Steps—Undergraduate Students
The Department of Political Science at the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) is holding a virtual information session for the Accelerated Master’s Program in Political Science–United Nations and Global Policy Studies (UNMA) on Friday, December 11, at noon via Webex. The School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) is accepting applications for the Master of Human Resource Management Program for 2021.
