Important Information Regarding COVID-19
The Universitywide COVID-19 Information Page is your official source of information about the university’s response to COVID-19. This page has resources for students and parents along with announcements pertaining to COVID-19, FAQs, and the operating statuses of services, facilities, and offices at Rutgers. You are encouraged to check this site frequently.
Mandatory Break Reporting Form for On-Campus Residents—All Students
All residents, despite intent to remain on campus or travel, must complete a Mandatory Break Status Form for the upcoming university breaks. Residents may choose to remain on campus as all residence halls will remain open for university breaks; however, residents will need to be aware of other hall break procedures. For safety guidelines, please complete the Mandatory Break Status Form by Wednesday, November 18 by 12 p.m. or deactivation of building access will default.
Withdrawal for New Brunswick Undergraduate Students—Undergraduate Students
The last day to withdraw from a class with a “W” and from the university is Monday, November 30. Students must notify their dean's office to complete an official withdrawal from school form. Students cannot drop their last class or withdraw completely from school via Webreg. View the Fall 2021 Undergraduate Calendar here.
Spring 2021 Pre-Registration—All Students
Pre-registration for Spring 2021 begins on Monday, November 30, at a new time of 9 a.m. for New Brunswick graduate students, and undergraduate students with 105+ credits. Pre-registration continues through Thursday, December 10. Registration for undergraduate students is by degree credits already earned. "How To" Videos on the Student Success Resources Website—All Students
Students getting ready to schedule classes for spring or looking for academic support resources as they finish the semester can access “how to” instructional guides and videos on the Student Success Resources website. These "how to" videos pertain to course scheduling, WebReg or Add/Drop and explore the resources for advising, academic support, financial assistance, career preparation and more. This new website organizes the resources and services that support student success in one location.
2021–2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Is Now Available
The 2021–2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available. Continuing students should file before the January 15 priority deadline. Learn how to apply for financial aid here.
Financial Holds—All Students
Financial holds will be placed on accounts with unpaid balances. These holds will prevent students from registering for spring semester classes. Students enrolled in tuition payment plans should make sure their accounts are current. Financial aid recipients should review aid packages and check required documents on the Financial Aid webpage to make sure all documents have been submitted. Students can view the balances on their accounts here.
Upcoming Winter Term Bill Due Dates—All Student
Winter term bill payments are due on December 7, 2020. Students can view and pay their winter semester term bills at paymybill.rutgers.edu. Term bills not paid by the due date will be assessed a late payment fee of $125.00. Students can also choose to enroll in a payment plan for assistance with paying their term bill balances at paymentplans.rutgers.edu.

Winter and Spring tuition payment plans are now available. Students looking to sign up for a Spring payment plan need to log into the current semester term bill to sign up until the Spring term bills are released. The deadline to sign up for a Winter payment plan is December 5, 2020. Visit paymentplans.rutgers.edu for more information.

Undergraduate students who anticipate completing January 2021 degree requirements must apply for graduation by submitting a diploma application online. The deadline is January 15, 2021. Please note that completion of a diploma application does not imply that graduation requirements have been met.
Thanksgiving Take-Out Feast—All Students
Dining Services is now offering a Thanksgiving Takeout Feast available for preorder. Any Rutgers student, faculty, staff, or member of the Rutgers community is invited to preorder the feast to bring home for Thanksgiving. Enjoy roasted turkey breast (or tofurkey), red bliss mashed potatoes, salads, desserts, and more, all for one price. Place an order here.
Rutgers Commuter Student Association for Commuter Carpool Communities Is Now on Discord—Undergraduate Students
First-year and transfer students are invited to join the Rutgers Commuter Student Association to meet with upper-class commuters. The first five students who attend and stay until the end of each event will receive a prize (limit 1 per person). The next sessions are on November 17, 19, 20, and 30 from 3-4 p.m., and on December 2 and 4 from 3-4 p.m. Join the Discord community here or visit the Student Centers and Activities’ website.
Resident Assistant Recruitment for 2021–2022—Undergraduate Students
Students who would like to become a Rutgers University–New Brunswick Resident Assistant for 2021–2022 can apply through Sunday, November 22, 2020. Check out eligibility requirements and job expectations here.
COVID-19 Testing Information—All Students
All students living in campus housing, living off-campus in the New Brunswick/Piscataway area, and students in groups required to receive testing can access testing through Rutgers Student Health. Details about testing can be found here.
- Off-campus students must register their local address here. Local addresses are needed in order for public health officials to properly track and respond to the pandemic.
- There is no cost for testing through Rutgers Student Health.
- Students who experience symptoms, had contact with someone who tested positive, are worried, or are unsure about getting tested, should call Rutgers Student Health at 848-932-7402. Student Health will schedule a same-day appointment time to speak with a clinician, answer questions, and provide a test that day.
Applications for the School of Social Work's Master of Social Work & Virtual Open House—All Students
The School of Social Work is now accepting applications for the Master of Social Work (MSW) Spring, Summer, and Fall 2021 terms. This nationally-ranked school will host a virtual open house for students interested in learning more about the MSW degree options on Saturday, November 21, between 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Faculty and admissions representatives will discuss the various program options, specializations, and scholarships available. This 36-credit program gives students an opportunity to reduce graduate program costs and obtain an M.A. degree in a shorter time period. The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) is holding a Major, Minor, and Career Readiness Fair on November 10–12 from 1 to 3 p.m. virtually via Canvas, Zoom, and Webex. Students will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from different academic departments, programs, student services offices, and more. The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and Mary Ann and Steven J. Allard have established a fellowship for outstanding, declared, non-traditional public health students who have demonstrated a personal commitment or outstanding academic potential in their public health studies. For 2020–2021, two eligible undergraduate students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 will be selected as fellows to receive $2,000 each. The deadline for applications is October 2, 2020. Personal Meeting Room Reservations Now Available at the Student Centers—All Students
Student Centers and Activities has opened personal meeting room reservations for academic engagement such as online classes, academic sessions, exams and meetings with professors and other Rutgers staff, etc. Rooms are limited to one per day for three hours, with a maximum of two people. Dining Services is now offering online ordering for pickup using meal swipes. Meal plans are also available with packages from 50 to 285 meals for the semester. Get Ready to Vote this Fall—All Students
The General Election on November 3, 2020, will feature new changes to election practices in New Jersey. All actively registered voters in N.J. will receive an official ballot for the election to the address linked to their voter registration. Students should follow this voting plan:
- Check registration status and address OR register for the first time.
- Students who need to change an address should update voter registration by October 13.
- Receive, fill-out, and submit official ballots by Election Day, November 3.
- Verify that ballots were counted.

Fall semester term bills are now available to view and make payment. Term bills not paid by the due date will be assessed a late payment fee of $125.00. It is recommended that students enroll in one of the Rutgers University Tuition Payment Plans (RUTPP) for those unable to pay the full amount due by the due date. Applications for the Mary Ann and Steven J. Allard Fellowship Program—Undergraduate Students
The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and Mary Ann and Steven J. Allard have established a fellowship for outstanding, declared, non-traditional public health students who have demonstrated a personal commitment or outstanding academic potential in their public health studies. For 2020–2021, two eligible undergraduate students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 will be selected as fellows to receive $2,000 each. The deadline for applications is October 2, 2020. The Busch, College Avenue, and Livingston student centers are open with extended hours on Mondays–Thursdays from 8 a.m.–10 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. The student centers are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Check Voter Registration Status for the 2020 General Election—All Students
The General Election on November 3, 2020, will feature new changes to election practices in New Jersey. All actively registered voters in N.J. will receive an official ballot for the election to the address linked to their voter registration. It is important to check voter registration status to verify the address to which official ballots will be delivered. Students can find legal disclosures and information concerning academic programs, drug and alcohol policies, including the Drug Free Schools and Campuses Act, the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, institutional and specialized accreditation, nondiscrimination and harassment, Title IX, public safety information, peer-to-peer file sharing, withdrawal from the institution, and more here.
- Suicide Prevention Act—Rutgers has individuals with training and experience in mental health issues who focus on reducing student suicides and attempted suicides. These individuals are available on campus or remotely by telephone or other means for students 24 hours a day, seven days a week. - File Sharing Software—The sharing of music and movies through the use of file sharing peer to peer (P2P) software available online is discouraged due to copyright and security issues. In compliance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), the university has provided guidelines to inform students about copyright laws. Visit the Virtual Involvement Fair through September 16 —All Students
The 2020 Virtual Involvement Fair runs through 11 p.m. on September 16. Students can log on at any point to learn about the nearly 700 student groups, fraternities and sororities, sports clubs, and departments participating in this year’s event. Students can also chat directly with group representatives during scheduled live sessions. Students are encouraged to complete or update getINVOLVED profiles in advance of the fair. LVL UP Now Accepting Applications for Second-Year Students—Second-Year Students
Applications are open for the LVL UP program for second-year students offered by Student Centers and Activities: Leadership and Experiential Learning. Students will face changes as they transition into their second-year, like shifting to major-specific related courses; declaring their major; taking on positions within student organizations; and managing large teams. Students will develop the skills necessary to succeed while also training for position-specific responsibilities. The application deadline is September 16. Learn more and apply to LVL UP here.
First-Year Fellowship Applications Now Open—First-Year Students
Applications are open for the First-Year Fellowship Certificate Program offered by Student Centers and Activities: Leadership and Experiential Learning. This program features a curriculum designed for emerging leaders to cultivate their skills and abilities to become the next generation of leaders. Participants take advantage of the opportunity to participate in an 8-week, 1.5-credit leadership course, in addition to being exposed to involvement opportunities.
