Financial Holds—All Students
Financial holds will be placed on accounts with unpaid balances, preventing students from registering for Fall 2020. Students enrolled in tuition payment plans should ensure they are on track to satisfy spring balances before the last installment is due, and financial aid recipients should ensure all aid has been credited. Spring Break Hall Closing—All Students
Certain residence halls on the Rutgers–New Brunswick campus will close at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 13, for the beginning of Spring Break. Residence halls will re-open on Sunday, March 22, at 10 a.m. Prior to moving out, please consult and complete the closing checklist in its entirety to help ensure that all students may return to a welcoming community after break. Residence Life staff will conduct closing room checks. Students should contact their Residence Life staff with any questions. View a full list of buildings closing for break here.
University Commencement Special Needs Parking Hangtag Registration Is Open—All Students
The University Commencement Office coordinates with the Rutgers Office of Disability Services to ensure that guests enjoy visiting campus on Commencement Day. For those with disabilities or requiring other accommodations for University Commencement on Sunday, May 17, 2020, parking registration is now open. Additional information for seating, alternate viewing options, traveling on campus, and more can be found on the Accessibility Information with Special Needs or Disabilities page of the University Commencement website.
Make A Difference–Volunteer at University Commencement—All Students
The Office of the Secretary is seeking volunteer Ambassadors for Rutgers University’s 254th Anniversary Commencement. Ambassadors are the volunteer force that helps University Commencement to celebrate and honor the hard work and dedication of Rutgers graduates. Ambassadors who volunteer receive parking, a t-shirt, gift, recognition on the stadium video board, entry into a raffle, and breakfast. Register now to help make University Commencement an exciting day for the Class of 2020!

Students may sign up to work for Rutgers Day, which is Saturday, April 25. Various positions are available between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for $11 per hour. Students who are interested should complete the application form.

Rutgers Day Program Submission Deadline Extended—All Students
The Rutgers Day program submission period is now open. All academic and administrative units, student clubs and organizations, and performance groups are encouraged to submit a program and participate in the largest annual outreach event the university offers. Rutgers Day is on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and programs must be submitted by February 26. Visit the Rutgers Day website by logging in with a NetID to submit a program, review guidelines and policies, and download marketing materials to promote activities.

The Rutgers Internship Excellence Awards, sponsored by the Office of Career Exploration and Success, was established to help recognize the outstanding contributions of Rutgers–New Brunswick undergraduate interns. Winners will be recognized at the Career Knights of Distinction awards dinner on Thursday, April 30, and also receive a $200 award. The application deadline is March 1, 2020. Student Accounting Is Now on the Rutgers App—All Students
Student accounts are now on the Rutgers App. Students now have the ability to pay their bills, sign up for direct deposit, complete their exit counseling, and get “Quick Links” to Student Account information at their fingertips.
View and Pay Spring Semester Term Bills—All Students
Students can view and pay their spring semester term bills at paymybill.rutgers.edu. Term bills not paid by the due date will be assessed a late payment fee of $125.00. Students can also choose to enroll in a payment plan for assistance with paying their term bill balances at paymentplans.rutgers.edu. Students can authorize a third party or a parent with access to make payments on their behalf. Simply log into the term bill and use the “Manage Access” section to provide access to the designated payer.
Remission on Term Bill
Student Accounting, Billing and Cashier Services (Student ABC) is pleased to announce an enhanced process which displays estimated tuition remission on the Online Term Bill (OTB) for all eligible and appointed remission recipients. Once a student is eligible and appointed, Student ABC will display the estimated tuition remission amount on OTB. With the estimated amount displayed, students will now have the opportunity to proactively address any term bill charges due, that is not covered by the remission benefit, if applicable.
1098Ts
Students now have access to view and print the 2019 1098T tax forms for Educational Tax Credits. Students with scholarships and grant aid greater than their qualified tuition and fee charges are not eligible to claim a tax deduction and will not see a 1098T form. Students are strongly encouraged to sign up for direct deposit with RU ScholarRefund for the fastest, safest, and most convenient way to receive refunds. Funds are available for immediate use once deposited. Learn more and enroll in RU ScholarRefund here.
The Residential Student Experience Survey Opens on February 12—Undergraduate Students

Commencement Speaker 2021 and Honorary Degree Nomination Process—All Students
Rutgers is now accepting commencement speaker and honorary degree nominations for the May 2021 ceremony at Rutgers University–New Brunswick (including Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences). Because speakers will also be awarded an honorary degree, nominations for the university commencement speaker should also follow the guidelines for honorary degree candidates. Speaker nominees should be someone who is engaging and interesting with broad appeal to a diverse audience. Nominations for the commencement speaker and honorary degrees to be awarded in May 2021 will be accepted until February 14, 2020. More information on the nomination process is available here.

The Master’s Program in Political Science–United Nations and Global Policy Studies at the School of Arts and Sciences is accepting study abroad applications from graduate and high-achieving undergraduate students for the European Summer Institute. This six-week home-stay program exposes students to courses on the EU, UN, migration, gender, and development. The program is in english. The application deadline is February 15, 2020. Dining Plan Change and Cancellation Requests—All Students
Dining Plan change and cancellation requests for the Spring 2020 semester are now being accepted in person at the RU Express and Board Plan Office, Records Hall, Room 102, on the College Avenue Campus until today, Tuesday, February 4, 2020. This is the only time during the semester reductions and cancellations will be allowed. Requests may also be made online here.

The Rutgers–Eagleton Washington Internship Award Program provides one-time grants of up to $5,000 to current Rutgers undergraduate students for summer internships in government or the nonprofit sector in Washington, D.C. This monetary award is intended to ease the financial burden of working in Washington, D.C. by offsetting living expenses. Undergraduates from all majors are encouraged to apply. Students looking to sharpen writing skills, earn 1.5 credits, and network with agents, editors, and publishers this summer are encouraged to attend the 4th Annual Writers’ Conference. The conference is held from June 5-7, 2020. Students can hear from bestselling novelists including Jane Smiley (A Thousand Acres), Billy Collins (Sailing Alone Around the Room: New & Selected Poems), and many others. Continuing students who are thinking about living on-campus for the 2020-2021 academic year must apply for a housing selection number by the extended deadline, 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 29, 2020, in order to participate in the housing selection process. Students can view and pay their spring semester term bills at paymybill.rutgers.edu. Term bills not paid by the due date will be assessed a late payment fee of $125.00. Students can also choose to enroll in a payment plan for assistance with paying their term bill balances at paymentplans.rutgers.edu. Students can authorize a third party or a parent with access to make payments on their behalf. Simply log into the term bill and use the “Manage Access” section to provide access to the designated payer.
Remission on Term Bill
Student Accounting, Billing and Cashier Services (Student ABC) is pleased to announce an enhanced process which displays estimated tuition remission on the Online Term Bill (OTB) for all eligible and appointed remission recipients. Once a student is eligible and appointed, Student ABC will display the estimated tuition remission amount on OTB. With the estimated amount displayed, students will now have the opportunity to proactively address any term bill charges due, that is not covered by the remission benefit, if applicable.

Starting at the end of January, students will receive an email notification with instructions for viewing and printing the 2019 1098T tax forms for Educational Tax Credits. Students with scholarships and grant aid greater than their qualified tuition and fee charges are not eligible to claim a tax deduction and will not see a 1098T form. Students who are interested in what it would be like to teach at Rutgers are invited to apply to the First-Year Interest Group Seminars (FIGS). FIGS are one-credit courses taught by upper-class students to aid first-year students in their transition to college while exploring an academic interest area. Regular Classes End This Week
Wednesday, December 11, is the last day of regular classes for the semester. Thursday, December 12, and Friday, December 13, are Reading Days. The final exam period begins on Monday, December 16.
Winter Break Hall Closing
Certain residence halls on the Rutgers–New Brunswick campus will close at 7 p.m. on Monday, December 23, for the beginning of the Winter Recess. Residence halls will re-open on Sunday, January 19, at 10 a.m. Prior to moving out, please consult and complete the closing checklist in its entirety to help ensure that all students may return to a warm and welcoming community after break. Late Registration for Winter Term and Term Bill Payments—All Students
The late registration period for the Winter 2020 term has begun. Students may continue to register, but a $125 late fee will be assessed. Rutgers Internship Excellence Awards—Undergraduate Students
The Rutgers Internship Excellence Awards, sponsored by the Office of Career Exploration and Success, was established to help recognize the outstanding contributions of Rutgers–New Brunswick undergraduate interns. Winners will be recognized at the Career Knights of Distinction awards dinner on Thursday, April 30, and also receive a $200 award. The application deadline is March 1, 2020. Late Registration for Winter Term—All Students
The late registration period for the Winter 2020 term has begun. Students may continue to register, but a $125 late fee will be assessed. Earn up to four credits during winter break, and choose from 150 courses in a wide range of subjects. Courses are offered in face-to-face, online, or hybrid format. Learn more about Winter Term here.
Applications for the Leadership and Experiential Learning First-Year Fellowship—Undergraduate Students
Leadership and Experiential Learning is now accepting applications for the First-Year Fellowship Certificate Program (FYF). The fellowship features a curriculum designed for emerging leaders to cultivate their skills and abilities to become the next generation of leaders on campus and beyond. This program is open to first-years and is a 1.5-credit, 8-week course. The application deadline is Sunday, December 8, 2019. Learn more about FYF and apply here.
Applications for the Master’s Program in Political Science–Concentration in the United Nations and Global Policy Studies—Undergraduate Students
The Department of Political Science at the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) is accepting applications from high-achieving undergraduate students for the Accelerated Master’s Program in Political Science–United Nations and Global Policy Studies (UNMA) on a rolling basis. This 36-credit program gives students an opportunity to reduce graduate program costs and obtain an M.A. degree in a shorter time period. Undergraduate students considering law school can complete the Rutgers Law 3+3 Program in just six years, instead of the usual seven years to earn an undergraduate and law degree. The program is open to students across all Rutgers campuses who complete the application process by March 1 of their third undergraduate year. European Summer Institute—All Students
Master’s Program in Political Science–United Nations and Global Policy Studies at the School of Arts and Sciences is accepting study abroad applications from graduate and high-achieving undergraduate students for European Summer Institute. This home-stay 6 weeks program exposes students to courses on the EU, UN, migration, gender and development. The program is in English. Deadline is February 15, 2020. Residence Halls to Remain Open for Thanksgiving Recess—All Students
All residence halls will remain open for the University Thanksgiving Recess. Residential students living in certain halls should prepare for Winter Recess hall closing on December 23, 2019, at 7 p.m. More information and resources regarding hall closures can be found here.

Applications for the Ronald E. McNair Program—Undergraduate Students
Applications are being accepted for the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program. The McNair Program provides a supportive environment and a multitude of resources to assist and prepare students interested in pursuing a doctorate. Current undergraduate sophomore, rising juniors, and seniors who are low-income, first generation, or underrepresented students interested in pursuing a doctoral degree are encouraged to apply. Call for Proposals for Diversity Innovation Grants—All Students
The Division of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement announces the creation of Diversity Innovation Grants which offers a way for creative, innovative, and grassroots efforts to join in the larger strategy to move community values from ideals to actions. Priority will be given to proposals that build cross-campus, intergroup, and partnership approaches to support community.
