Fall 2019 Add/Drop Dates—Undergraduate Students

View and Pay Fall Semester Term Bills—All Students
Fall semester term bills are now available here to view and make payment. Term bills not paid by the due date will be assessed a late payment fee of $125.00. It is recommended that students enroll in one of the Rutgers University Tuition Payment Plans (RUTPP) for those unable to pay the full amount due by the due date. Authorized User Access for Term Bills—All Students
Students can now authorize a third party or a parent with access to make payments on their behalf. Simply log into the term bill and use the “Manage Access” section to provide access to the designated payer.

Sign Up for Electronic Deposit to Receive Refunds—All Students
Students are strongly encouraged to sign up for direct deposit with RU ScholarRefund for the fastest, safest, and most convenient way to receive refunds. Funds are available for immediate use once deposited electronically. Learn more about RU ScholarRefund here.

First Day (digital course materials)—All Students
Effective Fall 2019, the RU Book Advance program will be discontinued for the New Brunswick campus. This is being replaced by First Day, where digital course materials will be made available to students directly from the course's Learning Management System (Canvas, Sakai, etc). Students enrolled in a course participating in the First Day program (as indicated on the Web Registration System) will see an additional charge on their term bills listed as a Digital Book Charge. Students can opt-out of this program using the Course Material link in the Learning Management System.

Changes to TA/GA Remission Process—Graduate Students
Student Accounting, Billing and Cashier Services is pleased to announce the streamlining of the class six (6) Teaching Assistant (TA) and Graduate Assistant (GA) remission process. The improvements will simplify how eligible TAs and GAs will receive the benefit. Eligible TAs and GAs will no longer self-identify via paper form. Instead, Student ABC will receive an electronic report of eligible TAs and GAs when they are appointed. In addition, payroll deduction requests for charges not covered by the remission benefit will now be received online. Learn more about the remission process here.

Students can find legal disclosures and information concerning academic programs, drug and alcohol policies, including the Drug Free Schools and Campuses Act, the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, institutional and specialized accreditation, nondiscrimination and harassment, Title IX, public safety information, peer-to-peer file sharing, withdrawal from the institution, and more on the Disclosures website.

Student Policy Prohibiting Sexual Harassment, Sexual Violence, Relationship Violence, Stalking, and Related Misconduct
Rutgers University policy contains a comprehensive explanation of “consent,” describes the rights that apply to both the accused and accuser, and lists the range of protective measures the university may offer during and after the investigation. Read the Title IX policy here.

Policy Against Harassment, Intimidation, Bullying, and Defamation
Intolerance, bigotry, and bullying are antithetical to the values of the university and the Rutgers Code of Student Conduct prohibits harassment, intimidation, bullying, and defamation. The Code of Conduct contains definitions, descriptions of violations, and procedures for addressing violations. Students who wish to discuss any matter with the police or feel they are in need of immediate police attention may contact the Rutgers University Police Department.

Apply to be a VPVA Crisis Response Advocate—All Students
The Office for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance (VPVA) is recruiting volunteers to be New Brunswick Crisis Response Advocates. Advocates provide support, information, and referrals at the time of a domestic violence or sexual assault crisis. The schedule of classes for the Winter 2020 term is now available. Earn up to four credits during winter break, and choose from 150 courses in a wide range of subjects. Registration for New Parking E-Permits—All Students
In order to park on campus, students must purchase a new E-Permit. The E-Permits are available online for the 2019-2020 academic year and can be purchased online here. The Virtual Parking Pass system eliminates the need for hangtags and paper tickets. Any citations that result from parking violations will now be emailed. To ensure that a vehicle is registered, please visit the portal.

End of Year Residence Hall Closing
Students staying in 9-month residence halls and apartments should be prepared to depart from their space on Thursday, May 16, at 10 a.m. Card ID access will be de-activated at this time. Rutgers University Residence Life requires that students vacate their space within 24 hours of their last final exam. If students complete their finals prior to May 16, it is expected that students will make arrangements to move out according to their exam schedule. On-Campus Meningitis B Vaccination Clinic—All Students
All undergraduate students are strongly recommended to be fully vaccinated against meningitis B. Registration for the summer course Lifestyle Factors Affecting Health is now open. Earn 1.5 credits in this two-day seminar course that teaches students how to improve physical and mental health, manage stress, and use simple change management techniques to break unwanted habits. Participants Needed for Study on Dating Violence and Stalking—All Students
The Center on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) at the School of Social Work is conducting a campus-wide study concerning dating violence and stalking. Students who are 18 or over and have experienced dating violence (controlling, abusive, or aggressive behavior) or stalking since coming to Rutgers and have not sought services from the Office of Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance or have not shared the experience with any services at Rutgers are encouraged to take part in this confidential and individual interview and study. Interested students should email campusclimatestudy@ssw.rutgers.edu. Participants receive $25 cash for time and participation.

Pre-registration for the Fall 2019 term begins on Sunday, April 7, at 10 p.m. for Rutgers–New Brunswick undergraduate students with 90+ credits and continues through Friday, April 19. On-Campus Meningitis B Vaccination Clinics—All Students
The university will host on-campus vaccination clinics during April and May. In April, the vaccination clinics will run from 12-8 p.m. at the following dates and locations:

• Tuesday, April 2: College Avenue Student Center
• Wednesday, April 3: College Avenue Gym
• Monday, April 8: Livingston Student Center
• Tuesday, April 9: Cook Student Center

University Commencement will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at HighPoint.com Stadium on the Busch Campus. With more than 50,000 people expected on campuses in Piscataway and New Brunswick, parking on campus will be limited. Therefore, graduating students must register to receive up to two free parking hangtags for themselves and their families or guests. Financial holds will be placed on accounts which have unpaid balances. These holds will prevent students from registering for Fall 2019 semester classes. Students who are enrolled in tuition payment plans should make sure that the last payment on a plan will satisfy any outstanding balance. The Darien Civic Engagement Project is a part of the Eagleton Institute of Politics' Center for Youth Political Participation. The Eagleton Fellowship Program in Politics and Government is a one-year interdisciplinary certificate program available to graduate students in ALL Rutgers schools and departments. Full/part-time and international students are also eligible to apply. Stipends and tuition remission are available. Students continue working towards their degrees without interruption and learn about real-world American politics, government, and public affairs. Spring Break Hall Closing
Certain residence halls on the Rutgers–New Brunswick campus will close at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 15, for the beginning of Spring Break. Residence halls will re-open on Sunday, March 24, at 9 a.m. Prior to moving out, please consult and complete the closing checklist in its entirety to help ensure that all students may return to a welcoming community after break. Apply to How Sweden Works: Equality, Solidarity, Happiness this Summer—All Students
Registration is open for this 3-credit summer program in Stockholm, Sweden, where students will study key features of Nordic life related to employment rights, labor relations, work-life balance, gender equity, international solidarity, and ecology. As part of a faculty-led study tour from June 9-14, students will meet members of the Swedish parliament, employer and labor organizations, civil society groups, and housing cooperatives. The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy has established the Ralph W. Voorhees Fellowship in public service to recognize students committed to community service. Any Rutgers–New Brunswick undergraduate student dedicated to civic engagement is invited to apply for the fellowship by Wednesday, March 20, 2019.
