The Registrar's Office is Moving—All Students
Starting Thursday, March 21, students can visit the Registrar's Office on College Avenue in Records Hall for assistance with registration and transcripts. Please note the Registrar's Office will be closed on March 20 for the move. Questions can be sent to studenthelp@registrar.rutgers.edu or gradreg@registrar.rutgers.edu.

University Commencement Special-Needs Parking Hangtag Registration Is Open—All Students
University Commencement will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at HighPoint.com Stadium on the Busch Campus. With more than 50,000 people expected on campuses in Piscataway and New Brunswick, parking on campus will be limited. Therefore, graduating students must register to receive up to two free parking hangtags for themselves and their families or guests. Registration for special-needs parking hangtags is now open. Registration for non-special-needs tags will open on March 25. Learn more here.

Financial Holds—All Students
Financial holds will be placed on accounts which have unpaid balances. These holds will prevent students from registering for Fall 2019 semester classes. Students who are enrolled in tuition payment plans should make sure that the last payment on a plan will satisfy any outstanding balance. Financial aid recipients should check online to make sure all financial aid has been credited. View the balance of a student account here.

Important Graduation Information—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students who anticipate completing May 2019 degree requirements must apply for graduation by submitting a diploma application online. Please contact the Undergraduate Registrar’s Office at 848-445-2757 and ask for Monica Licourt or Michael Rusen, or email diplomas@registrar.rutgers.edu with any concerns about a diploma application. Please note that completion of a diploma application does not imply that graduation requirements have been met.

The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy has established the Ralph W. Voorhees Fellowship in public service to recognize students committed to community service. Any Rutgers–New Brunswick undergraduate student dedicated to civic engagement is invited to apply for the fellowship by Wednesday, March 20, 2019. Fellows receive $5,000 and participate in a credit-bearing partnership with community organizers and serve as mentors for future Fellows. Learn more and apply here.

Applications for the Class of 2020 Eagleton Fellowship Program in Politics and Government—Graduate Students
The Eagleton Fellowship Program in Politics and Government is a one-year interdisciplinary certificate program available to graduate students in ALL Rutgers schools and departments. Full/part-time and international students are also eligible to apply. Stipends and tuition remission are available. Students continue working towards their degrees without interruption and learn about real-world American politics, government, and public affairs. The application deadline is March 29. Suicide Prevention Act
Rutgers has individuals with training and experience in mental health issues who focus on reducing student suicides and attempted suicides. These individuals are available on campus or remotely by telephone or other means for students 24 hours a day, seven days a week. File Sharing Software
The sharing of music and movies through the use of file sharing peer to peer (P2P) software available online is discouraged due to copyright and security issues. In compliance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), the university has provided guidelines to inform students about copyright laws. Copyright infringement and unauthorized distribution are against the law and will be enforced. Learn more here.

Call for Participants in the Graduate Student Colloquium on Paul Robeson—Graduate Students
Master and doctoral-level students are invited to register as teams of three or four for the Graduate Student Colloquium on Paul Robeson: Alum, Activist, Scholar, Athlete, and Global Citizen. This colloquium takes place on April 5 in the Rutgers Academic Building on the College Avenue Campus. The first place team will receive a prize of $1,000, second place will receive $500, and third place receives $250. One undergraduate student can be included on each team. Student Policy Prohibiting Sexual Harassment, Sexual Violence, Relationship Violence, Stalking and Related Misconduct
This policy contains a comprehensive explanation of “consent,” describes the rights that apply to both the accused and accuser, and lists the range of protective measures the university may offer during and after an investigation. Learn more here.

Policy Against Harassment, Intimidation, Bullying, and Defamation
Intolerance, bigotry, and bullying are antithetical to the values of the university. The Rutgers Code of Student Conduct prohibits harassment, intimidation, bullying, and defamation. The Code of Conduct contains definitions, descriptions of violations, and procedures for addressing violations. Students who wish to discuss any matter with the police or feel they are in need of immediate police attention may contact the Rutgers University Police Department: New Brunswick (732-932-7111), Newark (973-353-5111), Camden (856-225-6111).

Undergraduate students may apply for the summer program Art History in Rome. This program is a five-week intensive course led by faculty from the Rutgers University Art History Department. Classes are taught almost entirely onsite, making Rome an open-air textbook of art and architecture across centuries of Roman history. The application deadline is March 1. Learn more here.

Rutgers Day Program Submissions—All Students
The Rutgers Day program submission period is now open. All academic and administrative units, student clubs and organizations, and performance groups are encouraged to submit a program and participate in the largest annual outreach event the university offers. Rutgers Day is on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and programs must be submitted by February 15. Visit the Rutgers Day website by logging in with a NetID to submit a program, review guidelines and policies, and download marketing materials to promote activities.

Supervisor of the Year Nominations—All Students
All student employees are invited to nominate their Rutgers Faculty or Staff supervisor[s] for the 2019 Supervisor of the Year Award. Registration is open for this three-credit summer study abroad program where students can explore the unique history and culture of Spain and England and the influence of this history and culture on global sport and recreation movements. Apply to Study Social Movements in the United States and Japan this Summer—Undergraduate Students
Registration is open for this three-credit summer program in Kyoto, Japan, where students will explore contemporary trade and diplomatic relations in the western pacific region, including relations between Japan and the United States, as well as other East Asian countries like Korea and China. The program itinerary includes several group excursions. Possible excursions in Japan include the Peace Memorial, Hiroshima and Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo. The application deadline is March 1. Dining Plan Change and Cancellation Requests—All Students
Dining Plan change and cancellation requests for the Spring 2019 semester are now being accepted in person at the RU Express and Board Plan Office in room 102 of Records Hall on the College Avenue Campus until Tuesday, February 5. This is the only time during the semester reductions and cancellations will be allowed. Requests can also be made online here.

RU Express Cancellation and Reduction Requests—All Students
RU Express initial deposit cancellation and reduction requests for the Spring 2019 semester are now being accepted in person at the RU Express and Board Plan Office in room 102 of Records Hall on the College Avenue Campus until Tuesday, February 5. This is the only time during the semester cancellations or reductions will be allowed and only if the money for the Spring 2019 semester has not been used. Requests can also be made online here.

Apply to Study Shakespeare in England this Summer—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students may witness Shakespeare's work as it was meant to be seen and learn about the challenges and complexities of Shakespearian production by site visits to some of the United Kingdom's most famous theaters. Performances in the Globe Theatre in London and by the Royal Shakespeare Company are major parts of this four-week, three-credit summer program. The application deadline is March 1. Learn more here.

Apply to Study at the Fez Morocco Ethnographic Field School this Summer—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students may apply to practice ethnographic research methods while conducting fieldwork in the historical city of Fez, Morocco. During this four-week, six-credit program, students engage in guest lectures, spiritual music concerts, and cultural immersion while living with Moroccan families. View and Pay Spring Semester Term Bills—All Students
Students can view and pay spring semester term bills at paymybill.rutgers.edu. Term bills not paid by the due date will be assessed a late payment fee of $125.00. Students can choose to enroll in a payment plan for assistance with paying term bill balances at paymentplans.rutgers.edu. Students can now authorize a third party or a parent with access to make payments on their behalf by simply logging into the term bill and using the “Manage Access” section to provide access to the designated payer.

Staff Tuition Remission
Staff Tuition Remission is now automated and can be submitted via the MyRutgers portal.

1098Ts
Starting at the end of January, students will receive an email notification with instructions for viewing and printing the 2018 1098T tax forms for Educational Tax Credits. Students with scholarships and grant aid greater than their qualified tuition and fee charges are not eligible to claim a tax deduction and will not see a 1098T form. Sign Up for Direct Deposit to Receive Refunds—All Students
Students are strongly encouraged to sign up for direct deposit with RU ScholarRefund for the fastest, safest, and most convenient way to receive refunds. Funds are available for immediate use once deposited. For more information and to enroll, go to refunds.rutgers.edu.

Flu Vaccine Clinics—All Students
Student Health is hosting their last two flu vaccine clinics of the year today, Tuesday, January 29. Apply for the Microbiology and Culture of Cheese and Wine Summer Course—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students can study the history, culture, and science behind French wine and cheese with Dr. Max Haggblom in Cluny, France, and earn 3 microbiology credits at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. The course takes place this summer from June 2 to June 15. Students will go on a gastronomic tour of Louis Pasteur's home, see fermentation in action at local boulangeries, and study the process of turning water into wine. Undergraduate students can apply for the Rutgers Creative Writing summer study abroad program. This 16-day, 3-credit, intensive-writing program is designed to expose students to the history and literary inspiration of one of England’s most remarkable landscapes and is loosely based on Virginia Woolf’s daily schedule. Apply to Study on the Mediterranean Island of Malta this Summer—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students can apply for the 3-credit summer course Malta and the Mediterranean World. Students experience the Mediterranean island of Malta, from its prehistoric past to its modern history in this 2-week course. Visit megalithic temples, discover in the dungeons of the Inquisition, walk around the fortresses of the Knights of St. John, and relax in one of Malta's beautiful islands. Regular Classes End This Week
Wednesday, December 12, is the last day of regular classes for the semester. Thursday, December 13, is a Reading Day, and the final exam period begins on Friday, December 14.

Winter Break Hall Closing
Certain residence halls on the Rutgers–New Brunswick campus will close at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 21, for the beginning of the Winter Recess. Residence halls will re-open on Sunday, January 20, at 9 a.m. Prior to moving out, please consult and complete the closing checklist in its entirety to help ensure that all students may return to a warm and welcoming community after break. Apply to Study Political Science, United Nations, and Contemporary Global Policy Issues in Germany this Summer—All Students
The European Summer Institute is a joint educational venture between Rutgers University and the University of Kassel in Germany and is open to undergraduate and graduate students of all majors. Students can take two courses for 6 credits that are taught by professors from both universities in the city of Kassel. This 6-week home stay program also includes study tours to the European Union institutions in Brussels (Belgium) and U.N. agencies in Geneva (Switzerland), and excursions in Berlin (Germany). Apply to Study Primates and Other Wildlife in Kenya this Summer—Undergraduate Students
The outgoing program Primatology, Wildlife Ecology, and Conservation will be offered this summer in Kenya from June 27–July 23, 2019. This 6-credit program is run by Professor Ryne Palombit in the Department of Anthropology and focuses on learning about wildlife–including primates–in Kenya, how to study them, and conservation initiatives in Africa. Doing Business in Israel: Winter Session Course and Trip—Undergraduate Students
Registration for the new Rutgers–New Brunswick Winter Session course, Doing Business in Israel, is now open. Students can complete credits while in Israel this winter from December 21–January 18. This course provides a comprehensive and hands-on understanding of the dynamics of all types of innovation and entrepreneurship. Students will develop a deep understanding of the social, economic, and cultural environment in Israel and how these dynamics affect local and foreign firms. The program is open to all undergraduate students. Rutgers Business School students should inquire about potential scholarships available through RBS; students in other programs may be able to access scholarships/subsidies through their own schools. Applications for the McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program—Undergraduate Students
Applications are being accepted through December 7, 2018, for cohort 2019 for the Rutgers University–New Brunswick Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program. The McNair Program provides a supportive environment and a multitude of resources to assist and prepare students interested in pursuing a doctoral education. The program benefits include, but not limited to, up to 6 credits toward graduation, research funding, and graduate school preparation. Late fees for Winter Term Registration—All Students
The last day to register for the Winter 2019 term without a late fee is December 3. After this date, a $125 late fee will be assessed. Choose from 150 courses in a wide range of subjects. Courses are offered in face-to-face, online or hybrid format. Plan schedules now. Learn more here.

Call for May 2020 Commencement Speaker and Honorary Degree Nominations—All Students
Rutgers is now accepting commencement speaker and honorary degree nominations for the May 2020 ceremonies at Rutgers University–New Brunswick (including Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences). Because speakers will also be awarded an honorary degree, nominations for the university commencement speaker should also follow the guidelines for honorary degree candidates. Speaker nominees should be someone who is engaging and interesting with broad appeal to a diverse audience. Nominations for the commencement speaker and honorary degrees to be awarded in May 2020 will be accepted until November 30, 2018. More information on the nomination process is available here.

Doing Business in Israel: Winter Session Course and Trip—Undergraduate Students
Registration for the new Rutgers–New Brunswick Winter Session course, Doing Business in Israel, is now open. Students can complete credits while in Israel this winter from December 21–January 18. This course provides a comprehensive and hands-on understanding of the dynamics of all types of innovation and entrepreneurship. Students will develop a deep understanding of the social, economic, and cultural environment in Israel and how these dynamics affect local and foreign firms. The program is open to all undergraduate students. Rutgers Business School students should inquire about potential scholarships available through RBS; students in other programs may be able to access scholarships/subsidies through their own schools.
