Changes in Designation of Class Days
The week of November 19 is shortened due to the Thanksgiving recess. Tuesday, November 20, follows a Thursday class schedule. Wednesday, November 21, follows a Friday class schedule.

Thanksgiving Break Hall Closing
Certain residence halls on the Rutgers–New Brunswick campus close at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, for the beginning of Thanksgiving recess. Residence halls re-open on Sunday, November 25, at 9 a.m. Prior to moving out, please consult and complete the closing checklist in its entirety to help ensure that all students may return to a warm and welcoming community after break. Residence Life staff will conduct closing room checks. Students should contact their Residence Life staff with any questions. View a full list of buildings closing for break here.

Important Graduation Information—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students who anticipate completing January 2019 degree requirements must apply for graduation by submitting the following an Online Diploma Application. For questions regarding diploma applications, please contact the Undergraduate Registrar’s Office at 848-445-2757 and ask for Monica Licourt or Michael Rusen, or email diplomas@registrar.rutgers.edu. Please note that the completion of a diploma application does not imply that graduation requirements have been met.

Registration for Winter Term Is Ongoing—All Students
Registration for the Winter 2019 term is ongoing. Earn up to four credits during winter break. Choose from 150 courses in a wide range of subjects. Courses are offered in face-to-face, online or hybrid format. Plan schedules now. Learn more here.

Call for May 2020 Commencement Speaker and Honorary Degree Nominations—All Students
Rutgers is now accepting commencement speaker and honorary degree nominations for the May 2020 ceremonies at Rutgers University–New Brunswick (including Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences). Because speakers will also be awarded an honorary degree, nominations for the university commencement speaker should also follow the guidelines for honorary degree candidates. Speaker nominees should be someone who is engaging and interesting with broad appeal to a diverse audience. Nominations for the commencement speaker and honorary degrees to be awarded in May 2020 will be accepted until November 30, 2018. More information on the nomination process is available here.

Doing Business in Israel: Winter Session Course and Trip—Undergraduate Students
Registration for the new Rutgers–New Brunswick Winter Session course, Doing Business in Israel, is now open. Students can complete credits while in Israel this winter from December 21–January 18. This course provides a comprehensive and hands-on understanding of the dynamics of all types of innovation and entrepreneurship. Students will develop a deep understanding of the social, economic, and cultural environment in Israel and how these dynamics affect local and foreign firms. The program is open to all undergraduate students. Rutgers Business School students should inquire about potential scholarships available through RBS; students in other programs may be able to access scholarships/subsidies through their own schools. Applications for the McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program—Undergraduate Students
Applications are being accepted through December 7, 2018, for cohort 2019 for the Rutgers University–New Brunswick Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program. The McNair Program provides a supportive environment and a multitude of resources to assist and prepare students interested in pursuing a doctoral education. The program benefits include, but not limited to, up to 6 credits toward graduation, research funding, and graduate school preparation. Low-income, first generation, and/or historically underrepresented students interested in pursuing a doctoral degree are encouraged to apply. Register for Bloustein School's New Big Data Master’s Program for Fall 2019—Undergraduate Students
The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy is now accepting applications for Fall 2019 to its new Master of Public Informatics (MPI) program. This program is suited for students with interests in big data, data science and data management as it relates to public policy, urban planning, and health administration. Apply to Study Primates and Other Wildlife in Kenya this Summer—Undergraduate Students
The outgoing program Primatology, Wildlife Ecology, and Conservation will be offered this summer in Kenya from June 27–July 23, 2019. This 6-credit program is run by Professor Ryne Palombit in the Department of Anthropology and focuses on learning about wildlife–including primates–in Kenya, how to study them, and conservation initiatives in Africa. It's Election Day—Remember to Vote!
Students who registered to vote in New Jersey on or before October 16, 2018, can vote today (November 6). Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. More information on polling locations, what to bring to the polls, and deadlines for voting by mail can be found here. A free shuttle is being offered to the Parsons School polling location. Students are also invited to stop by one of the Election Day “Parties at the Polls” near student centers and polling locations.

Flu Vaccine Clinic for Students
Getting an annual flu shot is the most effective way to prevent the flu. Since the strain of the flu virus changes every year, annual vaccines are needed. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body that protect against the flu, so make plans to get vaccinated early in the fall, before flu season begins. Register for the 3+3 Program (Bachelor’s/J.D. Dual Degree) By March 1—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students considering law school can complete the Rutgers Law 3+3 Program in just six years, instead of the usual seven years to earn an undergraduate and law degree. The program is open to students across all Rutgers campuses who complete the application process by March 1 of their third undergraduate year. Learn more here.

Disclosure Statements
Students can find legal disclosures and information concerning academic programs, drug and alcohol policies, including the Drug Free Schools and Campuses Act, the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, institutional and specialized accreditation, nondiscrimination and harassment, Title IX, public safety information, peer-to-peer file sharing, withdrawal from the institution, and more here.

Student Policy Prohibiting Sexual Harassment, Sexual Violence, Relationship Violence, Stalking and Related Misconduct
This policy contains a comprehensive explanation of “consent,” describes the rights that apply to both the accused and accuser, and lists the range of protective measures the university may offer during and after an investigation. Learn more here.

Policy Against Harassment, Intimidation, Bullying, and Defamation
Intolerance, bigotry, and bullying are antithetical to the values of the university. The Rutgers Code of Student Conduct prohibits harassment, intimidation, bullying, and defamation. The Code of Conduct contains definitions, descriptions of violations, and procedures for addressing violations. Students who wish to discuss any matter with the police or feel they are in need of immediate police attention may contact the Rutgers University Police Department: New Brunswick (732-932-7111), Newark (973-353-5111), Camden (856-225-6111).

The Daily Targum Funding & Refunds
The Daily Targum is an independent, student-written and managed newspaper that is published by the Targum Publishing Company with a circulation throughout the Rutgers community. The newspaper is published Monday through Friday while classes are in session during the Fall and Spring semesters. Partial funding for the Targum comes from special fees included in each undergraduate student's term bill through a referendum conducted every three years. Students who do not wish to fund the Targum can receive a refund by contacting the newspaper’s Business Office directly at 732-932-7051, or business@dailytargum.com. Refund requests must include the following: Name (First, Middle, Last), student ID, Rutgers school (SAS, RBS, etc.), graduation date, date of request, and home address (including zip code).

Volunteers Needed for the VPVA Advocate Program—All Students
The Office for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance (VPVA) is recruiting volunteers to become New Brunswick Crisis Response Advocates. Advocates provide support, information, and referrals at the time of a domestic violence or sexual assault crisis. A 60-hour intensive weekend training will be held in October. Applications are being accepted for the Eagleton Institute of Politics Undergraduate Associates Program for Rutgers juniors interested in American politics, policy, and government. This 1.5 year, interdisciplinary certificate program is open to Rutgers Juniors from all Rutgers schools, departments, and campuses—including transfer students. Learn about real-world politics, public policy, and government from experienced practitioners in the field and build networks to affect positive change. Voter Registration Form Campus Drop-Off Locations—All Students
Students are encouraged to register to vote or update addresses to access a polling location on or near campus by Tuesday, October 16. Submitted forms will go towards Rutgers' participation in the New Jersey Ballot Bowl. For students' convenience, forms can be dropped off at the following campus locations:

New Dates: Invitation to Participate in Student Focus Groups—All Students
The Office of Enrollment Management–New Brunswick invites students to participate in focus groups between November 3 and November 9 to better understand student interactions with the Offices of Financial Aid, Student Accounting, and the Registrar. Pizza and a $10 gift card will be provided for all participants. Feedback from students is vital to improving overall experiences with these offices. Financial Holds—All Students
Financial holds will be placed on accounts which have unpaid balances. These holds will prevent students from registering for spring semester classes. Students enrolled in tuition payment plans should make sure their accounts are current. Financial aid recipients should review aid packages at financialaid.rutgers.edu to make sure all aid has credited. Students can view the balances of accounts here.

Invitation to Participate in Student Focus Groups—All Students
The Office of Enrollment Management–New Brunswick invites students to participate in focus groups the week of October 7 to better understand student interactions with the Offices of Financial Aid, Student Accounting, and the Registrar. Feedback from students is vital to improving overall experiences with these offices. Please complete a registration form to participate. Logistical information will be emailed in advance of the focus groups, and a light meal will be provided at each meeting.

Suicide Prevention Act
Rutgers has individuals with training and experience in mental health issues who focus on reducing student suicides and attempted suicides. These individuals are available on campus or remotely by telephone or other means for students 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students can contact: NJ HopeLine (855-654-6735), RUPD (911), Counseling, Alcohol & Drug Assistance Program & Psychiatric Services (CAPS) (848-932-7884).

File Sharing Software
The sharing of music and movies through the use of file sharing peer to peer (P2P) software available online is discouraged due to copyright and security issues. In compliance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), the university has provided guidelines to inform students about copyright laws. Copyright infringement and unauthorized distribution are against the law and will be enforced. Learn more here.

Guidelines for appropriate protection and supervision of minors participating in university-sponsored programs, or in programs operated by outside entities that are held in university facilities, can be found here (PDF).

View and Pay Fall Semester Term Bills—All Students
Fall semester term bills are now available here to view and make payment. Term bills not paid by the due date will be assessed a late payment fee of $125.00. To pay a bill, please login and pay by electronic check (with no fee) or by credit card (with a service fee). It is recommended to enroll in one of the Rutgers University Tuition Payment Plans (RUTPP) for those unable to pay the full amount due by the due date. Please click here for additional information and payment plan options. Students can now authorize a third party or a parent with access to make payments on their behalf. Simply log into the term bill and use the “Manage Access” section to provide access to the designated payer.

Sign Up for Electronic Deposit to Receive Refunds—All Students
Students are strongly encouraged to sign up for electronic deposit with RU ScholarRefund for the fastest, safest, and most convenient way to receive refunds. Funds are available for immediate use once deposited electronically. Learn more here.

Dining Plan Change and Cancellation Requests—All Students
Dining plan change and cancellation requests for the Fall 2018 semester are now being accepted in person at the RU Express and Board Plan Office, Records Hall, Room 102, on the College Avenue Campus until Tuesday, September 18, 2018. This is the only time during the semester that reductions and cancellations will be allowed. Requests may also be made online here.

RU Express Cancellation and Reduction Requests—All Students
RU Express initial deposit cancellation and reduction requests for the Fall 2018 semester are now being accepted in person at the RU Express and Board Plan Office, Records Hall, Room 102, on the College Avenue Campus until Tuesday, September 18, 2018. This is the only time during the semester that cancellations or reductions will be allowed and only if the money for the Fall 2018 semester HAS NOT been used. Requests may also be made online here.

Normal Webreg hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. The Registrars’ Offices are located at the Administrative Services Building on the Busch Campus in rooms 200B, 200F, and 200L. Registration for New Parking E-Permits—All Students
In order to park on campus, students must purchase a new E-Permit. The E-Permits are available online for the 2018-2019 academic year and can be purchased online here. The Virtual Parking Pass system eliminates the need for hangtags and paper tickets, and parking permission fees remain unchanged.
