Please be aware that the full value of staff/faculty graduate tuition remission is subject to federal and New Jersey state tax withholding. In addition, under federal regulations, any graduate tuition remission benefit over $5,250 per calendar year is also considered taxable. Please refer to the 2023 Tax Withholding Schedule for Spring 2023 withholding dates.

Rutgers University has partnered with GradGuard to make the Tuition Protection Insurance Plan available to students and families. The plan helps students and their families overcome the financial losses that may result from events that force students to withdraw from the semester due to a covered medical reason, including mental health conditions and illness from epidemic and pandemic diseases. myGuest Authorized User Access for Term Bills, Grades, and More—All Students
Students can authorize a third party or a parent with access to review academic records, view financial aid rewards, or make payments on their behalf. To grant this access, students must log in to their myRutgers Dashboard, and use the "Authorized Access" icon to provide access to the desired authorized party. Additional instructions for the myGuest Dashboard can be found here.

One Stop Student Services Center and Walk-Ins—All Students
The One Stop Student Services Center (One Stop) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick represents an integrated and coordinated cross-functional service in the areas of financial aid, student accounts, and registration.  One Stop acts as a “single point of service” across these areas to promote a progressive, simplified, and consistent student experience and a culture that supports student satisfaction and success. Questions can be submitted using the contact form, by phone at 848-445-4636 (INFO), or by visiting the One Stop at Dr. Samuel Dewitt Proctor Hall located at 65 Davidson Road on Busch Campus. No appointments are necessary for walk-ins. Health

Changes to COVID-19 Policy—All Students
Effective May 16, 2023, all students who have not been granted a medical or religious exemption by the university continue to be required to have completed a primary series of vaccinations and to upload proof of vaccination to the vaccine portals. Booster doses will no longer be required unless an individual falls within the definition of a “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1.

COVID-19 Testing for Non-vaccinated Students—All Students
Effective May 16, 2023, students with medical or religious exemptions from the university’s COVID-19 vaccination requirements will no longer be required to regularly test unless they fall within the definition of “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1. Consistent with Governor Murphy’s Executive Orders 283, 290, and 294, only those individuals who have been granted medical or religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccination requirements and who fall within the definition of “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1 must continue to test once per week using self-administered rapid tests and upload their results to the vaccine portal while such executive orders remain in effect.

Registration for the 31st Annual Rites of Passage Ceremony—Graduating Black and Latine Students
Rites of Passage is a pre-commencement celebration to honor Black and Latine-identified students who, through resolute persistence, have successfully completed an undergraduate or graduate degree at Rutgers–New Brunswick. Graduating Black and Latine students are encouraged to register for Rites of Passage, which will be held on May 10 at Jersey Mike's Arena on the Livingston Campus. Learn more and register here.

Project Move Out Registration—All Students
Rutgers University and the City of New Brunswick are partnering in Project Move Out to recover discarded furniture, appliances, and textiles in order to keep these items out of landfills and reduce the carbon footprint. Project Move Out provides for free curbside pick-up of bulk items only for Rutgers students who pre-register between April 19–May 22 (noon). The collection will take place between May 24–26.  Registrants will be assigned a day based upon their address. Learn more and register here.

Rutgers University 257th Anniversary Commencement—Graduating Students
The gates at SHI Stadium open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 14. Graduates must arrive by 9 a.m. and head to the field level via the south end of the stadium to the assembly area. The ceremony begins promptly at 10 a.m. Please allow ample time for parking, travel, and entry to SHI Stadium, as traffic will be heavy. Dress for weather, wear comfortable shoes (no heels!), wear sunscreen, and bring sunglasses. The SHI Stadium Bag Policy will be in effect. Please leave personal belongings in the car or at home and only bring phones for fast entrance into the stadium. Graduates and their families may purchase parking hangtags on College Avenue ONLY on May 14 for $10. Family and friends can sign up for email updates regarding Commencement. Student Health Insurance Information—All Students Students who have failed to waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan before the deadline should follow these guidelines: 

  • Failed to Waive? Students are being enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan and will be responsible for the premium on the term bill even if they have other health insurance. Students can complete a waiver appeal form before April 30, 2023, at www.universityhealthplans.com. F & J Rutgers visa-sponsored students must contact Eirinn Jones at Rutgers Global before the deadline for waiver appeal guidelines by April 30, 2023. A Rutgers ID number must be included for identification. 
     
  • Failed to Enroll? Students are now being enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), which will cause a delay in accessing insurance cards. Students can visit www.uhcsr.com to create an account and access insurance cards in a few weeks. Please note that students should be proactive and enroll before the deadline each semester to avoid having to pay out-of-pocket expenses for medical care—including medication—and then seeking reimbursement.

Graduating students may record a Shout Out on Hot Dog Day (April 26, 2 to 5 p.m., Graduate Student Lounge of the College Avenue Student Center) and on Rutgers Day (April 29, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Scott Hall on College Avenue Campus). Shout Outs will appear on the stadium video board during the ceremony. 

Parking registration for Commencement is open and registration has been extended to 10 a.m. on May 1. Graduating students must register to receive two free parking hangtags for themselves and their families or guests in order to park on campus on May 14. Commencement Special Needs Parking Registration is available for guests who are not able to walk more than 1/2 mile. Information regarding regalia sales, parking registration, shout out filming, day-of information, and more is available on the website. Volunteers Needed for Commencement—All Students
Volunteers are needed for the 2023 Rutgers–New Brunswick and RBHS Commencement ceremony taking place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at SHI Stadium. Student volunteers are needed for a variety of positions which are vital to ensuring that Commencement goes smoothly and effectively. Commencement Ambassadors receive training, a Commencement t-shirt, a thank-you gift, a breakfast reception before Commencement, entry into a volunteer raffle, and the satisfaction of making the day even better for Rutgers' newest alumni. Register as a Commencement Ambassador here. Changes to COVID-19 Policy—All Students
Effective May 16, 2023, all students who have not been granted a medical or religious exemption by the university continue to be required to have completed a primary series of vaccinations and to upload proof of vaccination to the vaccine portals. Booster doses will no longer be required unless an individual falls within the definition of a “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1.

COVID-19 Testing for Non-vaccinated Students—All Students
Effective May 16, 2023, students with medical or religious exemptions from the university’s COVID-19 vaccination requirements will no longer be required to regularly test unless they fall within the definition of “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1. Consistent with Governor Murphy’s Executive Orders 283, 290, and 294, only those individuals who have been granted medical or religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccination requirements and who fall within the definition of “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1 must continue to test once per week using self-administered rapid tests and upload their results to the vaccine portal while such executive orders remain in effect.

Rutgers University 257th Anniversary Commencement—Graduating Students
The 2023 Rutgers–New Brunswick and RBHS Commencement ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at SHI Stadium. Graduating students may record a Shout Out on Hot Dog Day (April 26, 2 to 5 p.m., Graduate Student Lounge of the College Avenue Student Center) and on Rutgers Day (April 29, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Scott Hall on College Avenue Campus). Shout Outs will appear on the stadium video board during the ceremony. 

Parking registration for Commencement is open and registration has been extended to 10 a.m. on May 1. Graduating students must register to receive two free parking hangtags for themselves and their families or guests in order to park on campus on May 14. Commencement Special Needs Parking Registration is available for guests who are not able to walk more than 1/2 mile. Academic Coaching Focus Group—All Students The Learning Centers are conducting an academic coaching focus group to collect input from students. Important Graduation Information—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students who anticipate completing May 2023 degree requirements must apply for graduation by submitting a diploma application online or by hard copy if the deadline has been missed. The application deadline is May 15, 2023. Submit diploma application questions to the One Stop Student Services Center. Please note that completion of a diploma application does not imply that graduation requirements have been met.

Student Health Insurance Information—All Students Students who have failed to waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan before the deadline should follow these guidelines: 

  • Failed to Waive? Students are being enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan and will be responsible for the premium on the term bill even if they have other health insurance. Students can complete a waiver appeal form before April 30, 2023, at www.universityhealthplans.com. F & J Rutgers visa-sponsored students must contact Eirinn Jones at Rutgers Global before the deadline for waiver appeal guidelines by April 30, 2023. A Rutgers ID number must be included for identification. 
     
  • Failed to Enroll? Students are now being enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), which will cause a delay in accessing insurance cards. Students can visit www.uhcsr.com to create an account and access insurance cards in a few weeks. Please note that students should be proactive and enroll before the deadline each semester to avoid having to pay out-of-pocket expenses for medical care—including medication—and then seeking reimbursement. 

FAFSA Submission Deadline—All Students
Current students who have received New Jersey State aid for academic year 2022–2023 and want to renew their aid for academic year 2023–2024 should submit the FAFSA by April 15, 2023.

Taxable Tuition Remission—Students Who are Staff or Faculty
Please be aware that the full value of staff/faculty graduate tuition remission is subject to federal and New Jersey state tax withholding. In addition, under federal regulations, any graduate tuition remission benefit over $5,250 per calendar year is also considered taxable. Please refer to the 2023 Tax Withholding Schedule for Spring 2023 withholding dates.

Discovery Advantage Focus Groups—All Students
The Office of the Chancellor-Provost wants to learn about the student experience at Rutgers–New Brunswick in order to support a new initiative called Discovery Advantage. The goal of this initiative is to reimagine the entire student experience, from admission to graduation, and ensure that all students are supported and prepared for success here at Rutgers and in their future careers. Students are encouraged to participate in a focus group to provide personal insight into their Rutgers experiences. Each focus group will include refreshments and an opportunity to win a $25 RU Express Card. Each group will include approximately 10 students from a cross-section of schools, majors, and class years. One Stop Student Services Center and Walk-Ins—All Students
The One Stop Student Services Center (One Stop) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick represents an integrated and coordinated cross-functional service in the areas of financial aid, student accounts, and registration.  One Stop acts as a “single point of service” across these areas to promote a progressive, simplified, and consistent student experience and a culture that supports student satisfaction and success. Questions can be submitted using the contact form, by phone at 848-445-4636 (INFO), or by visiting the One Stop at Dr. Samuel Dewitt Proctor Hall located at 65 Davidson Road on Busch Campus. No appointments are necessary for walk-ins. Health

Changes to COVID-19 Policy—All Students
Effective May 16, 2023, all students who have not been granted a medical or religious exemption by the university continue to be required to have completed a primary series of vaccinations and to upload proof of vaccination to the vaccine portals. Booster doses will no longer be required unless an individual falls within the definition of a “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1.

COVID-19 Testing for Non-vaccinated Students—All Students
Effective May 16, 2023, students with medical or religious exemptions from the university’s COVID-19 vaccination requirements will no longer be required to regularly test unless they fall within the definition of “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1. Consistent with Governor Murphy’s Executive Orders 283, 290, and 294, only those individuals who have been granted medical or religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccination requirements and who fall within the definition of “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1 must continue to test once per week using self-administered rapid tests and upload their results to the vaccine portal while such executive orders remain in effect.

Rutgers University 257th Anniversary Commencement—Graduating Students
The 2023 Rutgers–New Brunswick and RBHS Commencement ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at SHI Stadium. Graduating students may take part in Grad Fair on April 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Barnes & Noble at Rutgers. Cap and gowns will be available for purchase, as well as online through Barnes & Noble at Rutgers. Students may also get a cap and gown portrait or headshot taken, see a selection of class rings, personalized announcements, and diploma frames. Students may record a Shout Out on April 5 by stopping by the Rutgers Career Exploration & Success office, 4th floor of the Gateway Transit Village, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shout Outs will be featured on the video board of the stadium at the Commencement ceremony.

Parking registration for Commencement is open. Graduating students must register to receive two free parking hangtags for themselves and their families or guests in order to park on campus on May 14. Commencement Special Needs Parking Registration is available for guests who are not able to walk more than 1/2 mile. Information regarding regalia sales, parking registration, shout out filming, day-of information, and more is available on the website. Writing Tutoring Appointments Now Available—All Students
Students can now meet with Writing Tutors in person by appointment through the Learning Centers. Writing support is available to all undergraduate and graduate students in the following formats: in-person drop-in, online by appointment (via Zoom), and asynchronous feedback (in Canvas). Students should log into Penji to see tutor availability or to schedule an appointment. For asynchronous feedback, students can upload a draft paper to the Canvas site where a tutor will provide general comments and feedback on papers in 24-48 hours. Students looking for assistance with Writing Program courses (01:355:xxx, 01:356:xxx) which include Basic Composition and Expository Writing, should visit the Rutgers Writing Centers.

Applications for the Darien Civic Engagement Project—Undergraduate Students
The Center for Youth Political Participation at the Eagleton Institute of Politics is accepting applications for the fall cohort of the Darien Civic Engagement Project. This is a for-credit, on campus program for students interested in supporting RU Voting's nonpartisan voter registration and mobilization efforts. Important Graduation Information—Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students who anticipate completing May 2023 degree requirements must apply for graduation by submitting a diploma application online or by hard copy if the deadline has been missed. The application deadline is May 15, 2023. Submit diploma application questions to the One Stop Student Services Center. Please note that completion of a diploma application does not imply that graduation requirements have been met.

Student Health Insurance Information—All Students Students who have failed to waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan before the deadline should follow these guidelines: 

  • Failed to Waive? Students are being enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan and will be responsible for the premium on the term bill even if they have other health insurance. Students can complete a waiver appeal form before April 30, 2023, at www.universityhealthplans.com. F & J Rutgers visa-sponsored students must contact Eirinn Jones at Rutgers Global before the deadline for waiver appeal guidelines by April 30, 2023. A Rutgers ID number must be included for identification. 
     
  • Failed to Enroll? Students are now being enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), which will cause a delay in accessing insurance cards. Students can visit www.uhcsr.com to create an account and access insurance cards in a few weeks. Please note that students should be proactive and enroll before the deadline each semester to avoid having to pay out-of-pocket expenses for medical care—including medication—and then seeking reimbursement. 

Taxable Tuition Remission—Students Who are Staff or Faculty
Please be aware that the full value of staff/faculty graduate tuition remission is subject to federal and New Jersey state tax withholding. In addition, under federal regulations, any graduate tuition remission benefit over $5,250 per calendar year is also considered taxable. Please refer to the 2023 Tax Withholding Schedule for Spring 2023 withholding dates.

Ralph W. Voorhees Fellowship in Public Service (Application Deadline Extended)—Undergraduate Students The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy has established the Ralph W. Voorhees Fellowship Program in Public Service to honor Mr. Voorhees' commitment to community service. Each year, the school selects undergraduates from any major at Rutgers–New Brunswick who are dedicated to civic engagement. Changes to COVID-19 Policy—All Students
Effective May 16, 2023, all students who have not been granted a medical or religious exemption by the university continue to be required to have completed a primary series of vaccinations and to upload proof of vaccination to the vaccine portals. Booster doses will no longer be required unless an individual falls within the definition of a “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1.

COVID-19 Testing for Non-vaccinated Students—All Students
Effective May 16, 2023, students with medical or religious exemptions from the university’s COVID-19 vaccination requirements will no longer be required to regularly test unless they fall within the definition of “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1. Consistent with Governor Murphy’s Executive Orders 283, 290, and 294, only those individuals who have been granted medical or religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccination requirements and who fall within the definition of “Covered Individual” set forth in University Policy 100.3.1 must continue to test once per week using self-administered rapid tests and upload their results to the vaccine portal while such executive orders remain in effect.

Student Health Insurance Information—All Students Students who have failed to waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan before the deadline should follow these guidelines: 

  • Failed to Waive? Students are being enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan and will be responsible for the premium on the term bill even if they have other health insurance. Students can complete a waiver appeal form before April 30, 2023, at www.universityhealthplans.com. F & J Rutgers visa-sponsored students must contact Eirinn Jones at Rutgers Global before the deadline for waiver appeal guidelines by April 30, 2023. A Rutgers ID number must be included for identification. 
     
  • Failed to Enroll? Students are now being enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), which will cause a delay in accessing insurance cards. Students can visit www.uhcsr.com to create an account and access insurance cards in a few weeks. Please note that students should be proactive and enroll before the deadline each semester to avoid having to pay out-of-pocket expenses for medical care—including medication—and then seeking reimbursement. 

Taxable Tuition Remission—Students Who are Staff or Faculty
Please be aware that the full value of staff/faculty graduate tuition remission is subject to federal and New Jersey state tax withholding. In addition, under federal regulations, any graduate tuition remission benefit over $5,250 per calendar year is also considered taxable. Please refer to the 2023 Tax Withholding Schedule for Spring 2023 withholding dates.

The Learning Centers are hosting the webinar “Secrets to Acing the GREs” for students thinking about applying to graduate school or taking the GRE test. Representatives from ETS, the organization that makes the GRE General Test, will provide tips and strategies for each section of the GRE test. Participants will receive discount codes for the test and test prep materials. This webinar is a collaboration of ETS, the Learning Centers, and the Office of Career Exploration and Success. Spring 2023 Add/Drop Dates—Undergraduate Students
March 20: Last day to withdraw from a course with a “W” grade.
May 3: Last day to withdraw from the University for Spring 2023.

Scarlet$ense Financial Literacy Workshop: Budgeting, Saving, and Investing—All Students
The Office of Financial Aid will hold a Scarlet$ense financial literacy workshop on Thursday, February 23, at 2 p.m. at the Dr. Samuel DeWitt Proctor Hall on the Busch Campus. The workshop will focus on the topics of budgeting, saving, and investing. Learn more and register here.

Student Health Insurance Information—All Students Students who have failed to waive or enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan before the deadline should follow these guidelines: 

  • Failed to Waive? Students are being enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan and will be responsible for the premium on the term bill even if they have other health insurance. Students can complete a waiver appeal form before April 30, 2023, at www.universityhealthplans.com. F & J Rutgers visa-sponsored students must contact Eirinn Jones at Rutgers Global before the deadline for waiver appeal guidelines by April 30, 2023. A Rutgers ID number must be included for identification. 
     
  • Failed to Enroll? Students are now being enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), which will cause a delay in accessing insurance cards. Students can visit www.uhcsr.com to create an account and access insurance cards in a few weeks. Please note that students should be proactive and enroll before the deadline each semester to avoid having to pay out-of-pocket expenses for medical care—including medication—and then seeking reimbursement. 

Taxable Tuition Remission—Students Who are Staff or Faculty
Please be aware that the full value of staff/faculty graduate tuition remission is subject to federal and New Jersey state tax withholding. In addition, under federal regulations, any graduate tuition remission benefit over $5,250 per calendar year is also considered taxable. Please refer to the 2023 Tax Withholding Schedule for Spring 2023 withholding dates.

1098-T Forms—All Students
1098-T tax forms are available to view and print electronically. View instructions on accessing 1098-T forms here.

TA/GA/Fellows Payroll Deduction—Graduate Students
TAs, GAs, and Graduate Fellows may enroll in payroll deduction to make payments for charges not covered by tuition remission, such as housing, dining, or student fees. Please complete the online form to enroll in payroll deduction and view the Spring 2023 payroll deduction schedule here. The deadline to enroll in the 7-payment plan for Spring 2023 payroll deduction is noon on February 23, 2023.

Set Up Direct Deposit to Receive Refunds Faster—All Students
Direct deposit is the fastest, safest, and most convenient way to receive refunds issued by Rutgers. All students are required to enroll in direct deposit. Please note that direct deposit is currently not available for summer or winter refunds. View instructions for setting up direct deposit here.

Summer and Advanced Standing/Third Term 2023 Payment Plans—All Students

Cash Payments—All Students
Due to the health and safety concerns associated with handling cash for students and staff, it is strongly encouraged that students use electronic payment methods instead of cash payments for paying term bills. Please review payment options and the Cash Handling Policy for more information.

GradGuard Epidemic Coverage Endorsement—All Students
Rutgers University has partnered with GradGuard to make the Tuition Protection Insurance Plan available to students and families. The plan helps students and their families overcome the financial losses that may result from events that force students to withdraw from the semester due to a covered medical reason, including mental health conditions and illness from epidemic and pandemic diseases. myGuest Authorized User Access for Term Bills, Grades, and More—All Students
Students can authorize a third party or a parent with access to review academic records, view financial aid rewards, or make payments on their behalf. To grant this access, students must log in to their myRutgers Dashboard, and use the "Authorized Access" icon to provide access to the desired authorized party. Additional instructions for the myGuest Dashboard can be found here.

One Stop Student Services Center and Walk-Ins—All Students
The One Stop Student Services Center (One Stop) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick represents an integrated and coordinated cross-functional service in the areas of financial aid, student accounts, and registration.  One Stop acts as a “single point of service” across these areas to promote a progressive, simplified, and consistent student experience and a culture that supports student satisfaction and success. Questions can be submitted using the contact form, by phone at 848-445-4636 (INFO), or by visiting the One Stop at Dr. Samuel Dewitt Proctor Hall located at 65 Davidson Road on Busch Campus. No appointments are necessary for walk-ins. Regalia On Sale for Rutgers University 257th Anniversary Commencement—Graduating Students
The 2023 Rutgers–New Brunswick and RBHS Commencement ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at SHI Stadium. Regalia is now on sale online through Barnes & Noble at Rutgers. Information regarding regalia sales, parking registration, shout out filming, day-of information, and more is available on the website. More information will be sent to students' ScarletMail accounts, and family and friends are also able to sign up for email updates regarding Commencement. Music Tutoring—All Students
The Learning Centers are now offering music tutoring for music courses. Tutors are available for the following courses: Aural Skills (I – IV), Classroom Piano (I – IV), Fundamentals of Music, Music History (I – II), and Music Theory (I – IV). All sessions will be held at Robert E. Mortenson Hall on the Douglass Campus. Students can register by visiting the LC Mason Gross Community on Penji. Applications for the Leadership Scholars Certificate Program—Undergraduate Students
The Institute for Women's Leadership is accepting applications for the Leadership Scholars Certificate Program. This two-year and 19-credit certificate program explores women’s leadership for social change, with benefits such as a career-building internship, funding for self-designed social action projects, and building community with other young women leaders. Ralph W. Voorhees Fellowship in Public Service—Undergraduate Students The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy has established the Ralph W. Voorhees Fellowship Program in Public Service to honor Mr. Voorhees' commitment to community service. Each year, the school selects undergraduates from any major at Rutgers–New Brunswick who are dedicated to civic engagement. Applications for the 2024 Graduate Fellowship Program in Government and Politics—Graduate Students Graduate students may apply for the 2024 Graduate Fellowship Program in Government and Politics offered by the Eagleton Institute of Politics. Fellows gain experience and knowledge of how American politics, government, policy, and advocacy impacts their fields of study and are a part of an interdisciplinary cohort from across Rutgers. This program is open to all Rutgers graduate students from all campuses, and full and part-time students are eligible. Stipends and tuition remission are available.
